By the time I was done with Raina in the hospital, I came outside and my grandmother told me Freya already left.
“I may have opened your eyes boy, but if care isn’t taken it seems you’ll lose your girl,” my grandmother said to me.
I shook my head, “That’s not possible. I can’t allow that to happen.”
“Well then hurry up.”

I walked into the hallway and that’s when I heard a struggling and muffled voice that sounded like Freya. Without wasting time, I pushed the door open and barged in.
My eyes widened at the sight that greeted me. Ivan was on top of Freya and trying to force himself on her. I saw red.
I grabbed him and punched him in the jaw. He fell to the floor and I punched him again, stomping on his leg.
“You bastard!” I snarled.
Freya stood up immediately and stood between me and Ivan. Her eyes were filled
with tears as she stared at me.

“That’s enough, Roy,” she said to me.
“But he tried to force himself on you!” I snapped. Just saying it and thinking about it made me want to throw another punch at him.
“Get out, Ivan!” Freya snarled at him.
With a frown, Ivan stumbled out. I glared at Freya, “Why didn’t you let me beat him up?”
“You could have killed him,” she sighed.
I let out a deep breath as I pulled her into my arms. She relaxed and allowed the tears to roll down her cheeks as I held her, kissing the top of her hair.
“I’m so sorry, Freya,” I apologized.

I was mortified to realize that the bastard had
been manipulating me all along because he was in love with my girl.
I finally helped her clean up. In the struggle with Ivan, she had spilled her cereals. I knew she only ate this when she was stressed or upset.
When the room was clean I sat down with her and held her hands in my palm as I drew circles around it.
“Forgive me, Freya,” I apologized, “I‘ m sorry I left you at the altar. It was very foolish and insensitive of me. I’m sorry.”

I saw the sad look in her eyes as she shook her head, “I didn’t expect this from you, Roy. And it took you so long to acknowledge your mistakes.”
I nodded and bowed my head in shame,
“I’m sorry, Freya. Just give me another chance to make it right.”
Freya shrugged, “What do you want me to do?”
I went down on one knee and presented the ring she had left at our apartment when she packed away.
“Marry me again, my love. Let me love you again like before.”
Tears clouded her eyes as she stared at me,
“That’s all I’ve ever wanted, Roy. But right

My heart ached at her words but I knew that I had to respect her decision. There was nothing I could do. It wasn’t in my nature to force anyone to do what they didn’t want to do.
“I understand, Freya, but when you change your mind I’ll be here waiting.”
“Thank you.”
“Will you be alright here?” I asked.
I felt worried about leaving her alone after what happened with Ivan.

forehead. Then I turned to leave with my
heart sinking.
“Wait, Roy,” she called out to me.
I turned around as I tried to hide the sadness in my eyes. I feigned a smile at her.
“Yes? What’s wrong, Freya?” I asked her.
The next words she said shocked me and made me the happiest man in the universe.
