Chapter 3
Originally, what I thought was sweet and passionate turned out to be just my imagination.
And in Alden’s eyes, I was just a presentable and obedient canary.
That’s ridiculous.
I nodded my head and said, “If that’s the case, then let it be.”
Although my heart was hurting, I was still able to pick up and let go.
I came, wanting to save.
If I cannot retain, then I will let go.
I looked at Alden and said with a bitter smile, “Well, I wish you happiness.”
With that, I intended to turn around and leave the stage.
Alden clenched his hand, averted his gaze, and did not meet my eyes.
But Serena stood in front of me, mocking and laughing, “Since you’re here, you might as well stay and watch. Otherwise, it’s like you’re not giving me, Serena, any face, not giving the Lynch family any face, not giving the entire Castlepond any face!”
“So arrogant?”
I laughed.
I have heard similar words before.
After all, Fieldkeep is quite big, and not everyone knows me, so it’s inevitable that someone would try to show off in front of me.
But as I dealt with a few short–sighted individuals, no one dared to speak to me like that anymore
Serena did not perceive the contempt in my words towards her; instead, she clapped her hands
Then, many men in black suits walked out and surrounded the stage.
“You scoundrel, as long as I am not happy today, you will not be able to leave this room!”
Serena said.
⚫ Alden came over in a hurry, glared at me, and said, “Get out of here quickly, I don’t want to see you
again!”
“Did I let you speak?”
Serena, however, said with a cold face, “Do you really think I’m stupid? Can’t you see that you’re
protecting this scoundrel?”
Did you protect me?
I took a deep look at Alden and noticed that his eyes were filled with worry.
Could it be that his words just now were a lie to deceive me?
Alden shook his head and said, “I just don’t want to have any connection with people from the past, and today is our engagement day. What does my ex–girlfriend matter? Will you have any face if this is known in the future?”
His tone softened a lot, “Serena, I was considering you.”
Serena’s complexion improved slightly, but she still said, “I am not afraid of losing face, because in this Castlepond, I am the queen!”
She pointed at me and said, “Go down and watch the ceremony!”
I nodded and gave Alden a half–smile, then stepped down from the stage.
Just as I had stepped off the stage, I was immediately surrounded by four men.
Then, I was taken to a corner and seated by them.
They were afraid that I would run away.
Serena on stage said to me, “You scoundrel, just watch the show properly. If I don’t let you leave, you won’t be able to leave.”
“You won’t let me go now, but when you want me to go, I won’t leave.”
I smiled faintly.
“Shut up!”
Alden scolded.
I smiled and said nothing. It was them who wanted to continue playing, so don’t blame me.
Serena said again, “I heard that you are from Fieldkeep? That’s great. Later, some important figures from Fieldkeep will come. They are all young gentlemen from Fieldkeep. I will introduce them to you, so you can get to know them and broaden your horizons.”
“Then I thanked in advance.”
I couldn’t help but laugh again.
And at this moment, a group of people walked over.
They were all young people, and they all seemed very arrogant..

Without a doubt, it was definitely Serena’s bad influence friends.
You little scoundrel, don’t you say that you were not living well?”
“Do
you really think Alden could protect you?”
“Truth be told, even if you didn’t come today, Serena wouldn’t let you off the hook. How could she
allow a woman who slept with her fiancé for four years to live?”
“I have a cellphone here; do you want me to help you call the police?”
A group of people laughed recklessly.
I lowered my head and fiddled with my phone, too lazy to talk to these people.
But there is one thing that I can be sure of.
That was Alden, indeed protecting me.
