Chapter 5
The moment they heard the gunshot, my parents trembled and stood still in shock, completely dazed for a long time.
Until the phone was hung up, the two of them exchanged a glance, seeing the terror in each other’s pupils.
“Child… Mom, did you hear… the gunshot just now?”
Dad asked Mom with a long trembling voice.
The color drained from my mother’s face as if suddenly sucked away, even her lower lip trembled.

The two of them shouted in realization, and Dad tried to dial the kidnapper’s phone number again, but couldn’t get through at all.
The two of them were completely panicked.
“Quickly make a phone call to the police!”
When the police arrived, they only saw my father staring blankly at his phone, looking completely lost.
After making the record, Fiona happened to come back.
As soon as she saw her parents, the first thing she did was not to comfort them, but to confront them with anger on her face, saying, “Just five million, why did it take you so long to prepare! You made me worried for a whole half hour!”
Before, whenever Fiona threw a tantrum, her parents would coddle and comfort her. But this time, she realized that her parents did not offer her any consolation.
Later, Fiona saw her father’s crimson eyes looking at her, and she involuntarily took a step back
Just then, Layton led the police to Fiona and choked out, “It was she who planned this kidnapping! I heard her with my ears telling Regina that she wanted to test whether her uncle and aunt loved her more or loved Regina more!”
As soon as these words were spoken, the phone in my father’s hand became unsteady and slipped from his grasp.
He suddenly rushed towards Fiona, tightly gripping her wrist and glaring, “Is what he said true?”

But inside, she was more afraid, thinking about her past mistakes, she always pretended to be pitiful..
So, she resorted to her old tricks and started crying pitifully.
“Dad, you scared me. I am your most beloved daughter, you know!”
However, this time, she miscalculated.
Dad angrily shouted and forcefully pushed her to the ground.
“Ask you a question! Did you plan this kidnapping?”
Fiona subconsciously nodded and then shook her head.
‘Dad, you used to never scold me. Have you forgotten? You and Mom used to love me the most.”
Mom wiped away her tears and gave Fiona a hard slap.
“Before? Before, it was because your sister was still here. Now that your sister is in danger, what
value do you still have?”
Dad angrily kicked Fiona, and if it weren’t for the police holding him back, he would have wanted to
kick his foster daughter to death.
Fiona finally got scared and quickly hid behind the police officer, crying loudly.
The police looked at this strange family and calmly turned their gaze towards Fiona, questioning her about the kidnapping.
After Fiona’s confession, the police finally realized that she had turned fiction into reality.
“Police officer, those group of people in black were not brought by me, I can prove it if you don’t
believe me!”
She quickly called a group of friends to clarify, however, the police told her that she still had a
suspicion.
“Do you remember the place where you were trapped? What were its characteristics?”
Fiona thought carefully, but Sir Logan, unable to contain his anger, couldn’t help but urge
impatiently, “Think quickly! Dare to lie and I’ll strangle you!”
Fiona was scared and quickly thought, while Madam Logan beside her started crying.
“Regina! Where were you? Mom missed you!”

didn’t love you, but because they believed in fortune tellers!”

Sir Logan also fell into deep self–blame after hearing it.
Just at that moment, Layton angrily accused Madam Logan.
“It was you, you wicked woman! It was you who killed your daughter!”
The police were immediately confused when they heard it.
Layton looked furious and said, “It was her! She called me and kept persuading me to leave Regina and be with her other daughter.”
She also revealed to me her noble background and asked me to marry Fiona and become a member of the Logan family, ensuring a worry–free life.
“After I rejected him, he deceived me again in the evening by saying that Regina wanted to meet me for karaoke. As soon as I entered the room, I was forced by a group of people arranged by Fiona to
sit on the sofa and drink.”
“If it weren’t for Regina arriving on time, I… I…”
He glared at this family with resentment.
If it hadn’t been like this, Regina wouldn’t have been kidnapped!
“Regina had a tough life. She matured earlier than her peers and studied diligently. In college, she
worked two jobs, being a waitress during the day and delivering takeout at night. She did all this
just to avoid burdening her family.”
“She had excellent grades and planned to study abroad with scholarships and part–time jobs to provide a better life for you in the future. But what about you, as parents? You have a lot of money, yet you pretend to be poor. Isn’t it tiring?”
How much ridicule and bullying did Regina endure in college because she was poor and had scars on her face? She could only silently bear it, hiding alone in the bathroom at night to wash her face
with tears.
“You didn’t deserve to be parents! You were nothing but demons!”
In the end, Layton sat on the ground, holding his head and crying in pain.
After hearing the whole story, the other police officers were filled with righteous indignation. The leading officer, trying to restrain his anger, glared at Sir Logan and Madam Logan and continued to
question Fiona about the situation.
“Uncle policeman, I confessed everything. It seemed like an abandoned construction site over
there…”
The
he police immediately sent someone to analyze the scene. Soon, they located the specific location and dispatched people for rescue.
