Chapter 3
“Carla, you were asking for trouble!”
Evan reacted excitedly and pushed me down with even greater force.
I hit the back of my head hard on the steps, and the intense pain made me dizzy.
I listened to Evan’s loud reprimands.
“Carla, did you become addicted to bullying people?!”
“The air in this house has become foul with the presence of a wolf like you, it disgusts me!”
I endured the pain and spoke up to stop him from saying increasingly hurtful words.
“I would move, don’t worry.
“You had better walk the talk.”
Evan’s anger was trapped in his throat.
He stared at me intently, and finally picked up Marlee and walked away.
I touched the sticky blood on the back of my head and inexplicably thought of something.
When I was fifteen, my relationship with Evan was far from being as strained as it is now.
Knowing early on about our marriage, knowing that we would eventually become true family.
I always used to stick to him.
He was rebellious and secretly went to the internet cafe to play games, and I followed him.
Later, he got into a dispute with others because of the game.
I tried to intervene, but I got accidentally injured and ended up cutting my finger.
In that moment, Evan was like a ferocious wild beast.
He beat up a man much bigger than him, making him cry and beg for mercy.
A man who used to get extremely nervous even when I accidentally hurt my finger in the past.
Nowadays, people would harm me without any reason and curse at me, wishing for my death.
It doesn’t matter anymore.
ance Mr. and Mrs. Norton arrived, the engagement between Evan and me could be dissolved.
I looked at the servant beside me and struggled to move the corners of my mouth.
“Can you take me to the hospital? I can give you money.”
The new maid, who was eager to move, was pulled back by the Mr. Norton before she could even approach.
The conversation they deliberately lowered their voices finally reached my ears.
“You’re looking for death!”
“Don’t you know that Mr. Norton disliked Ms. Reeves the most?”
“If he sees it, you won’t be able to keep your job!”
The maid was frightened and, finally, she glanced at me and ran away.
shook my head and smiled bitterly, crawling to the corner to pick up the shattered screen of my phone.
Mr. and Mrs. Norton were often away.
I was only at home for three or four days in a month.
Evan was the only owner here. He had said it more than once.
I was not a member of the Norton family. I did things on my own.
So everyone dared not approach me.
Every time I came home, the leftover food would be dumped into the trash can and tied up.
The plate on the table was empty.
Fortunately, I had already gotten used to it.
I forced myself to go to the hospital.
The doctor said I had a concussion.
Let me stay and observe for two days.
After being discharged, I returned to the Norton villa to pack my things.
The servants watched coldly as I struggled alone.
In the afternoon, I packed up all my belongings and moved them to a hastily rented house.
This was a temporary residence.
After a while, I received my graduation certificate, got an offer, and ended my engagement. I could get unut
On the third day after leaving the Norton villa.
Evan called, his voice sounding intoxicated.
“Where did you go?”
“A12 compartment, come here.”
I was busy writing my resume when my train of thought was interrupted, and I became a little
annoyed.
“Evan, is there something wrong?
The person on the other end of the phone seemed to have fallen silent.
Even the lively sounds around quieted down a lot.
I called out again, but didn’t hear a response, so I was ready to hang up the phone.
Evan suddenly spoke.
“Carla, where did you go?”
I retyped while putting my phone aside and casually said.
“You said living in the same house with me made you feel disgusted with the air, so I moved out.”
“Don’t worry, I won’t go back in the future.”
The man’s breathing grew heavier, and he suddenly chuckled coldly.
“Carla, when were you ever so obedient?”
“Wasn’t it you who used to pester persistently before?”
“Since you are so obedient, I will let you leave this city, disappear from my sight, can you go!?”
“Carla, I don’t care what game you’re playing, but if you continue targeting Marlee, I’ll make sure you regret it!”
The mouse was difficult to operate, and I stared at the screen.
It took a while before I realized what Evan had said.
The mocking, voice of Evan resounded.
“What’s wrong, ran out of things to say?”
Playing these little tricks day after day, don’t you get bored?”
“Apologize to Marlee, and I will allow you to come back.”
I hesitated and said, “Okay, Evan, I promised you that I would leave.‘
After saying that, I didn’t wait for your response and hu

I hesitated and said, “Okay, Evan, I promised you that I would leave.‘
After saying that, I didn’t wait for your response and hung up the phone directly.
