Chapter 2
Ismiled bitterly, “Randall, forget it. I plan to go back to my hometown and do some small business.”
Randall thought for a moment and then sighed, “Well, that’s fine. If you have any questions, feel free to tell me!”
After coming out from Randall’s place, I went back home, took all the money and the ticket, and started packing my things.
At that time, to get married, I bought a lot of things for myself.
I packed up the cotton mattress, new bedding, and clothes. I sent the cotton mattress back to my hometown, and I sold the bedding directly on the street.
As for the new clothes, I thought about it and decided to give them to my neighbor, Macey Dunn,
who has always taken care of me.
Macey looked at my clothes and couldn’t help but widen her eyes. “Briley, you passed! Such good fabric, and you don’t want it?”
“Well, Macey, I was planning to go back to my hometown!”
“Well, what did Zain say?”
I couldn’t help but moisten my eyes. “I, I don’t want him anymore. His heart is not with me. Even if I
am virtuous, it’s useless.”
“Why should I stay here when that woman’s words can make him not come home?”
I wiped away a tear, and Macey was instantly indignant, “I’ve heard it all, this Kyla is not a good
person!”
“Has my
husband died? Are all the relatives from both my natal and in–laws‘ families also extinct?
They insist on clinging to your family, Zain!”
“I went to talk to him!”
Macey was about to get up as she spoke, but I quickly stopped her. “Forget it, Macey. I’m going back to my hometown, so if you don’t mind, please accept these.”
“I went back first.”
Macey saw me off and asked me about the date of my return home. After thinking for a moment, I replied, “I’ll leave tomorrow.”
bought a ticket and will leave tomorrow.
I told Macey to keep it a secret for me, and Macey reluctantly agreed.
After I got home, I had just sat down when Zain came back, surprisingly bringing a chicken with
him.
“Briley, stew some chicken soup, and also, prepare more food. Kyla hasn’t eaten all day!”
The hope that I had just risen ultimately ended up in disappointment.
In the past, I would have made a fuss, but now, I won’t.
“You went to handle the chicken, and the two of us moved quickly together.”
Zain was taken aback for a moment until he saw me going to boil water, and then he realized it and hurried over to help.
Perhaps seeing my calm expression, he hurriedly said, “After this busy period, I will take you out for a walk.”
“On Kyla’s side, as you know, she couldn’t handle it alone.”
“I knew.”
I remained calm and, after boiling water,
I proceeded to cook and stew soup on my own
Zain ran back and forth diligently until the meal was served. He immediately packed up the chicken soup and said to me, “Briley, I will take this meal to her, and later I will buy another one for you to replenish your body.”
“It’s okay, you can go!”
He was stunned, not expecting me to say that. He paused for a moment but still walked away.
I had eaten, dragged the suitcase out from under the bed, and after tidying up, I wrote a letter to
Zain.
Also, take out the envelope from the drawer.
After I got together with Zain, he started handing over his salary. However, now and then, he would ask me for money, saying that Kyla had a hard time and he wanted to support her. He would give me thirty–five dollars a month, and twenty dollars would be allocated as Kyla’s allowance.
Including the money I made from selling things, there was approximately one hundred and ten
dollars.
Zain, I would like to see if you and Kyla can still get along without me.
I collected the money, went back to the room, and went to sleep. That night, Zain didn’t come back, and I didn’t pay attention either.
However, not long after, Zain came back, accompanied by Kyla..
“Briley, Kyla’s family kicked her out of the house. She had nowhere to go temporarily, so I brought her back home and let her sleep in the guest room!”
“Not appropriate,” I said, and as soon as the words left my mouth, Kyla’s eyes turned red.
“Never mind Zain. It wouldn’t be appropriate for a woman who just lost her husband to move in
with you, newlyweds.”
“How is it not suitable? This is my home, and I have the final say!”
Inodded, “Yes, it’s not suitable for her to sleep in the guest room, so let her sleep in the master bedroom, and I’ll sleep in the guest room.
