Chapter 13
After speaking, I turned back, my gaze locking with Rosie as I slid the ring onto her finger. The moment felt like it would linger forever.
Then, with all eyes on us–including Kendra‘ s–I leaned in and kissed Rosie, sealing my promise to her for life.
Kendra stood frozen, her mouth agape, her entire world crumbling around her. Her body trembled as her wounds reopened from the exertion, and she crumpled to the ground, collapsing in a pool of her own blood.
Even after Rosie and I exchanged vows, Kendra‘ s bitterness showed no sign of waning.
She stormed through the Jewett family, throwing tantrums and causing chaos. before leaving the corporation, determined to build her own empire.

She declared with fiery determination that one day, she would defeat Rosie and claim me for herself.
But, alas, her skills were as shallow as her ambitions. Without the Jewett family‘ s resources or influence, she quickly realized she was swimming against the tide.
Her ventures faltered, one failure after another until the Jewett family seemed to erase her from their memory entirely.
As for Rosie, once we were married, she
shifted her focus to our home. With a
wealth of international connections at her fingertips, she soared through
Cavendale’s elite circles, swiftly toppling the old guard to become the wealthiest in the region. In doing so, she elevated the Jewett name to new heights.
One evening, in the stillness of our home, I asked her with genuine curiosity, “Wife, if you hadn’t married me in this life, what would you have done?”

A glimmer of vulnerability flickered in
Rosie’s eyes as she looked at me, her voice soft but steady.
“Husband, let me tell you a story.”
“Ten years ago, I came back to Cavendale to attend the coming–of–age party of a wealthy young master.”
“At the banquet, some young men got into a quarrel and accidentally spilled red wine all over a little girl‘ s white dress.
“The stain ruined the dress, and she was beside herself with grief, crying uncontrollably.‘
“But instead of being upset about his party being ruined, the young master rushed to his study. He returned with paint. and brushes in hand, excitement lighting up his face.”
“He comforted the little girl as he used his
brush to transform the stain on her dress
into a vibrant sunflower, full of life and
color.”

“Unfortunately, that young master already had someone he cared for back then. He was always so passionate and
courageous.
“Even though I liked him, I genuinely wanted him to find the happiness he deserved, even if it wasn’t with me.”
As Rosie spoke, her words wove through my heart like a bittersweet melody, and I felt my vision blur with unshed tears.
I pulled her into my arms, holding her close as she smiled softly, kissing away the tears that slipped down my cheeks.
“So, to answer your question,” she whispered, her voice tender, “I‘ ve

thought about this countless times over the years.”
“If I hadn’t had the chance to marry you, I would‘ ve prepared myself to live alone forever. I would‘ ve thrown myself into my work abroad, pouring my energy into giving every opportunity and order to the woman lucky enough to marry you, making sure you‘ d live a life of happiness and abundance.”
At that moment, it became crystal clear.
It wasn’t about me possessing some. destined ability to bring fortune into our lives–it was Rosie, in every lifetime,
quietly and selflessly giving everything she had to protect me.
I held her even tighter, a surge of emotion flooding through me. Then, with a gentle but firm motion, I flipped her over and pinned her beneath me.
“Rosie, let’s have a child.”
“And when they‘ re older, we’ll create

She smiled, her eyes shimmering, and kissed me with a passion that felt as if her soul was merging with mine, binding us together in a promise of forever.
