“Mr. Lancaster, I beg you to let my son off this time for the sake of your past as classmates.”
I coldly looked at the father and son duo and sighed. “Ah, it seems Mr. Fitzroy still doesn’t understand what I mean. When I asked you to handle this, I wasn’t asking for compensation. I want to know how you plan to deal with your son. I’ll give you one more chance. If your solution doesn’t satisfy me, then don’t blame me for stepping in myself.”
Honestly, this was already me showing leniency for the sake of our past connection as classmates. I simply wanted Malcolm to learn a lesson.
But what I didn’t expect was that Malcolm was still unwilling to accept the situation.
“Dad, aren’t we the richest family in Langston? Didn’t you always tell me there’s nothing in Langston you couldn’t handle? So why are you backing down now? Why don’t you tell me who this Griffin really is, that even you are so afraid of him?”
The more Malcolm spoke, the more agitated he became. Finally, he simply shouted in front of everyone. “Griffin never says anything in our class group chat. He doesn’t even answer calls. We haven’t seen him in years, so how did he suddenly pop up with some special commissioner title? Who exactly is he? Why does even the richest man in Langston have to bow before him?”
Hearing his son’s remarks, Callum looked utterly exasperated, as if he could no longer tolerate his son’s
ignorance.
“You ungrateful brat! If you want to dig your own grave, don’t drag me down with you! I don’t know the full scope of the Special Commissioner’s position, but I do know that every word and action of his represents the military’s authority! And that Phantom you smashed earlier? I don’t even have the qualifications to open its door! Do you get it
now?”
Callum wasn’t exaggerating one bit.
Due to the special nature of my position, I typically avoid appearing in local affairs.
But who would’ve thought that after finally finding time to attend a class reunion, I’d end up with my car
smashed?
Hearing Callum’s words, the classmates‘ attitudes toward me shifted from initial disdain to outright admiration. Especially Thalia. While I was speaking with Callum, she kept throwing flirtatious glances my way. I almost couldn’t hold back from spitting out my dinner.
“Alright, alright,” I said, waving my hand dismissively. “Since Mr. Fitzroy can’t bear to handle his own son, I’ll take care of it myself.”

I went on, “Deliberately damaging military equipment and attempting to assault military personnel, either one of these charges alone is enough to lock you away for a long time. Take one last look at the world outside because you

As soon as I finished speaking, Malcolm dropped to his knees, tears streaming down his face as he sobbed uncontrollably. “Griffin, I was wrong! Please, give me another chance. I swear I’ll never do it again!”
I smiled and shook my head slightly. “Malcolm, I’ve already given you countless chances. Have you forgotten?”
I began to refine, “First, you locked me in the private room. Second, you smashed my car. And third, I let you call your father for backup. “Do you know why everyone flatters you at gatherings? It’s not because of you, it’s because you have a father who happens to be the richest man in Langston. That’s all.”
Callum stood in silence as he watched his son being escorted into the military vehicle. He knew full well how grave Malcolm’s mistakes were today. If he dared to utter even a word in defense, the Fitzroy Family’s status in Langston would be wiped out.
No amount of money could help now. Facing a military tribunal, not even the best lawyers could save his son. After dealing with Malcolm, I turned toward the crowd and locked eyes with our class leader.
“Back in the private room, when Malcolm insulted me, you were the only one who stood up for me. I am not someone without a sense of gratitude. Consider this as a personal favor I owe you. If you ever face difficulties in the future, come to the military district and look for me. As long as it doesn’t violate regulations, I will do my best to help you.”
After speaking, I glanced at the other classmates, who stood awkwardly on the side, unsure of what to do. “You’re all educated individuals, yet you resorted to flattering a rich heir while speaking harshly to an old classmate. Considering our shared history as classmates, I’ll let it slide this time. Don’t let it happen again.”
“From this moment on, my relationship with all of you…” I deliberately dragged out the pause, letting the tension hang in the air. “…is nothing.”
