At that moment, the officer standing at the front jogged up to me. “Comrade Special Commissioner, I hope I’m not
late.”
I turned to look at Malcolm, whose face had turned pale.
“It’s not late, just on time.”
At this, the crowd around us erupted in confusion.
“Did you hear what that person just called Griffin?”
“If my ears aren’t playing tricks on me, I think I heard them call him Special Commissioner.““Could it be? The officer was so respectful to Griffin. Could Griffin actually be…”
The murmurs in the crowd grew louder and Malcolm’s face turned even paler.
I took a calm step forward. “Jasper, the people in Langston really have guts, even daring to smash military
vehicles.”
“What!” As soon as my words fell, Jasper immediately noticed the Red Flag car parked nearby.
Although from a distance, the car appeared to be mostly intact, the scattered paint all over the ground clearly indicated that it had just gone through a destructive ordeal.
The officer immediately gave me a military salute.
“Comrade Special Commissioner, please rest assured. I will investigate this matter thoroughly.”
I waved my hand dismissively.
“No need to investigate. The person who smashed my car is right here.”
How vs Soldwer
Upon hearing my words, Malcolm cautiously stood up. “Uh… leader, I think you’ve mistaken someone. This person is one of my high school students. How could he possibly be a special commissioner?”
“Moreover, all of us here are Griffin’s high school classmates and none of us have ever heard anything like this,” Malcolm continued, still holding onto a shred of hope.
In his eyes, I was just a lowly government employee, earning a meager salary and spending my days carrying bags and driving for the leaders.
In fact, after graduating from the National Defense University, I had stayed in the military. If it weren’t for my superior sending me on a mission this time and the class monitor persistently inviting me, I would have never found time to attend this reunion.
Jasper looked Malcolm up and down, then slapped him across the face. “You really have some guts, daring to smash a military leader’s car! Are you trying to get yourself killed?”
Before Malcolm could react, Jasper spoke again. “Which car is yours?”
Malcolm, trembling, pointed to a Rolls–Royce not far away.
Before he could even process what was happening, Jasper waved his hand.
“Smash it.”
At the command, the soldiers from the pickup trucks quickly gathered. Within five minutes, Malcolm’s Rolls–Royce was completely destroyed.
“Stop! Stop it right now! I just bought this car not long ago!” Malcolm tried to stop them, but Jasper immediately blocked his way.
“I warn you, if you make another move, I’ll have you dealt with by military law.”
In the blink of an eye, Malcolm, who had been bragging about his luxury car just moments ago, watched helplessly as it was smashed to pieces. He probably wished he could just disappear at that moment.
With a forced smile, he tried to salvage the situation.
“Comrade, I admit my mistake for not recognizing who you were. How about I compensate you with a new one?” Malcolm, desperate, continued to plead, “One car isn’t enough, I’ll buy you ten! Can’t you tell them to stop? Please, just let it go. My dad is Callum Fitzroy. Can you give me some face and let this go?”
Jasper didn’t even glance at him. “Callum Fitzroy? Who’s that? I don’t know him.”
I couldn’t hold back my laughter when I overheard their conversation.
“Malcolm, you really are clueless. Even if your dad is the king of the world, this car is going to be smashed, no matter what.”
As soon as I finished speaking, Malcolm’s expression immediately fell.
“Griffin, stop pushing your luck. I’ve already agreed to compensate you, why can’t you just let it go? Didn’t you hear the saying, ‘Forgive when it’s time to forgive‘? Besides, we were high school classmates, can’t you show me just a little bit of mercy?”
What a joke, ‘forgive when it’s time to forgive.‘
