Chapter 13
Three days later, we returned to the villa with Adrian. I continued caring for him. diligently, though the atmosphere in the house grew heavier with each passing day. Abigail‘ s mood had darkened considerably, and she clung to the doctor’s opinion like a lifeline.
The doctor, however, had no concrete solutions and instead offered a strange suggestion. “Mr. Winslow seems to have terrible luck. First, the car accident, then the fall down the stairs. Why not perform a luck–enhancing ritual? It might improve his fortune.”
Abigail frowned but looked intrigued.
“What kind of ritual?”
The doctor hesitated before adding, “I’ve heard that weddings can bring immense good fortune. Perhaps holding a wedding ceremony for Mr. Winslow could change his luck.”

Amanda, ever the optimist, latched onto the idea immediately. “A wedding? That’s perfect! Let’s do it for him!”
Listening to their conversation from the top of the stairs, I glanced back at Adrian lying motionless in his room. He had heard every word, and when I caught his eye, he gave me a subtle gesture to intervene.
Instead, I turned away, packed my luggage,
and headed downstairs.
When Abigail saw me dragging my suitcase, her face turned pale. “Miss Greer, where are you going?”
I bowed my head apologetically. “Abigail, I have urgent business in Queency City. I’m sorry, but I have to leave.”
Her expression crumbled. “Please don’t go,” she pleaded, desperation dripping from her voice. “How about I pay you one million dollars a month to stay?”
“It’s not about the money,” I replied quietly. “I’m not in need of money

anymore.

Tears streamed down Abigail’s face as she grabbed my hand. “Miss Greer, I was wrong before. Please, don‘ t leave! Adrian only responds to you. You‘ re the only one who might wake him up!”
I remained silent, unsure how to respond.
Seeing my hesitation, Abigail became more frantic. “I’ll arrange for you to marry him immediately. You’ll be part of our family. Just don‘ t leave!”
Amanda chimed in, her voice full of conviction. “Miss Greer, how can Mr. Winslow live without you? You‘ re his only hope. As long as you‘ re here, there’s still a chance!”
I sighed deeply. Their desperation tugged at my heart. Reluctantly, I nodded. “Fine, I’ll stay.

And so, a grand wedding was arranged in record time.
Chapter 13
The villa was transformed into a dazzling dreamscape, with opulent decorations and a sea of wealthy guests arriving in their finest attire. The whispers and strange looks from the attendees didn’t faze me— I was too focused on the absurdity of it all. Adrian and I shared a silent amusement at the theatrics.
On our wedding night, Adrian’s fingers twitched as I held his hand. Abigail noticed and gasped in delight. “It worked! The ritual worked!” she exclaimed.
I stifled a laugh, biting my lip to keep my composure.
Half a month later, Abigail announced that she needed to travel to Evergreen City for work. She promised to return immediately if Adrian’s condition improved.
The moment her car disappeared down the driveway, Adrian sat up in bed, his movements smooth and deliberate.
“What are you looking for?” I asked,

watching him rummage through a cabinet with urgency.
He turned around, holding the household registration book and his ID card. “Let’s go get our marriage license.”
I blinked in surprise. “Are we seriously doing this? A wedding ceremony wasn’t enough?”
“A vegetative man can’t legally marry,” Adrian replied with a smirk. “But now I’m fully awake. It’s time to make it official.”
Feeling flustered, I crossed my arms. “Do we even know each other well enough for this?”
Adrian stepped closer, lifting my chin with a playful grin. “Not well enough? Miss Greer, I’ve spent months listening to you talk, feeling your touch, and even enduring your strange antics. I think I know you better than you realize.”
My cheeks burned. “Those antics were for

science!”
He chuckled. “Sure they were. But every word, every moment, gave me strength when I needed it most. So yes, I want this. I want us. Let’s make it official.”
I couldn’t argue with the sincerity in his eyes. Despite my earlier reservations, I found myself smiling. “Fine, let’s do it.”
Adrian and I went to the registry office and returned as a legally married couple. I couldn’t believe how far I had come- from resisting the idea of marriage to embracing it wholeheartedly.
Two years later, Adrian and I visited the site of his car accident–the event that had altered the course of both our lives.
Standing on the curb, Adrian pointed to a spot in the distance. “It happened right there. I thought I was going to die. Today, I finally have the courage to come back and face it.”
I looked around, a sense of familiarity

washing over me. “Wait… were you driving a red Porsche?”
Adrian turned to me in surprise. “Yes. How do you know?”
My eyes widened as realization struck. “It was you! I was riding my bike that day. I
saw the crash and called the ambulance.
You were covered in blood, so I didn’t recognize you at the time.‘

Adrian’s jaw dropped. “It was you? When I was fading in and out of consciousness, I thought I felt someone there. I thought it was just a dream.”
A laugh bubbled up from my chest. “So, Mr. Winslow, it seems I saved your life. How about rewarding me with ten kilograms of diamonds?”
Adrian pulled me into his arms, his voice full of emotion. “Miss Greer, diamonds are overrated. How about a seventy- kilogram husband instead?”
I pretended to think it over, a teasing smile

on my lips. “I guess that‘ ll do. You are pretty valuable, after all.”
“Good,” Adrian whispered, his breath warm against my ear. “Because tonight, I plan to show you just how much you mean to me.”
I laughed, knowing I wouldn’t trade this life for anything.
