chapter 9
“I remember them all.
“The moment I had money, I wanted to come back and make life better for all of
- us.
“But the moment I said I was
unemployed, you were thinking about how to kick me out.
“And you dare to say you gave birth to and
raised me?
“Tell Colton to hurry up with the transfer. If he doesn’t, I’ll ruin his job. The same goes for Marcela. I won‘ t spare any of them!”
I hired a few tough–looking guys with tattoos, and they accompanied Colton to and from work every day. They were just waiting for my word to get him fired.
After half a month, Colton couldn’t take it anymore. His boss had a talk with him, and

he was forced to call me for the transfer.
I didn’t show up; I let my lawyer handle it.
All three properties were transferred back to my name.
I later found out that the house in the school district was occupied by my sister- in–law’s parents, and the apartment was where her brother lived.
My biological parents valued their daughter–in–law more than their own daughter.
Well, it made sense. The daughter–in–law was the apple of their son’s eye.

Marcela had a huge fight, leading to divorce proceedings.

one.
He also checked out the house my parents currently lived in, which was close to the hospital and subway.

After the transfer, he quickly moved my parents, brother, and sister–in–law out.
All four of them were left homeless and tried to seek refuge with me.
To avoid any hassle with the property management, I kept the tattooed guys posted at the gate.

Marcela demanded a divorce from Colton, and in a fit of rage, he ended up killing her.

The police arrested him.
My parents were wailing and begging Marcela’s family for forgiveness, but they refused.
In the end, Colton was sentenced to death.
When my parents heard the news, they fainted on the spot.
I didn’t follow up on any of these events afterward.
Perhaps if they lived long enough to need support from me, I would give them the court–mandated 500 dollars per month.
But who knew if they would live that long, now that they had lost their son?
Meanwhile, I began a journey around the world with Emily.
End.
