I opened the second photo.
A woman was about to get in a car. The man beside her was holding the door open like a gentleman, his hand raised to keep her from bumping her head.
Coincidentally, that chivalrous man was my husband.
Sarah sent a few more messages.
“My boyfriend’s cousin went to the same middle school as your husband. He said your husband had a crush back then and even confessed to her.”
“Apparently he got rejected in the end.”
“Be careful – they might have dated before. Ethan could even be that woman’s child.”
“Look, my boyfriend and I ran into them at a couple’s restaurant today. What do you think that means? Think about it.”
Reading this, I muttered to myself, “I went to the same middle school as him too. How come I never heard about any crush? High school maybe?”
I called Sarah to reassure her. “Don’t overthink it. Maybe it was just a client meeting. Besides, ours was just an arranged marriage anyway.”
“If anything, I married up.” I said dismissively
“You dummy, what if they get back together? Then you’ll be tossed aside!” Sarah scolded me in exasperation.

Seeing me approach him voluntarily, he looked a bit stunned.
Noticing his surprise, I took a deep breath. “If we get divorced… can I keep Ethan?”
“Who said anything about divorce?” His expression was strange. “Isn’t Ethan already
ours?”
After processing what I’d said, he narrowed his eyes slightly. “Why would we get
divorced?”
“Don’t you have someone you like? Don’t worry, I won’t cling to you or anything. Just say the word and we can go to the courthouse right away,” I assured him. “But can I keep
Ethan?”
He laughed in exasperation. “I don’t have… I mean, I… Never mind. I’m not getting
divorced.”
With that, he left the study. As he was walking out, I saw him start to slam the door shut, then catch himself at the last second and close it gently.
Me: “…” That really wasn’t necessary.
The next day, he surprisingly didn’t go to the office. He volunteered to take Ethan to preschool.
Of course, I tagged along.
But when we were ready to head home, he drove in a different direction.
Before I could ask, he said gruffly, “We’re going to work on our relationship
