Alvin was glaring at me, his eyes cold, like he wasn’t looking at his mother but at some disgusting beggar.
I let out another belch, paying no attention to their scolding.
I pulled out the divorce papers I had printed and threw them on the table in front of Curran.
“Sign them and get out. Don’t ever let me see you or your family again.”
Curran held the divorce papers, his face turning pale with fury.
Penney took one look and exploded.
“Who do you think you are to say that?
を
Why should this house belong to you? Curran has a share in it, too!
Don’t even think about taking a single penny more than what’s yours!”
“Why? Because this house is mine! It’s in my name on the deed!”
Penney was silent.
When Curran and I got married, his family didn’t contribute a single cent.
I bought the house before we got married, and I’ve been paying the mortgage alone every
month.
This house had nothing to do with Curran.
I glanced at Alvin, who looked torn, and my heart softened.
Even though Alvin had disappointed me, he was still my flesh and blood. I figured he had just
been led astray by Penney.
If he were willing to stay with me, I would still love him.
But to my shock, when Alvin saw the divorce papers, he eagerly grabbed a pen and urged his
dad to sign them.
“Great, Dad! You should divorce this bad woman! Then Ms. Ellsworth can be my new mom!”
Alvin’s words made everyone’s face fall.
Curran’s expression flickered with guilt, and he quickly covered Alvin’s mouth.
“Ah, Alvin talks nonsense; there’s no Ms. Ellsworth,” he denied.
But Alvin wasn’t backing down. He yanked his father’s hand away.
“Don’t you
with her!”
remember Ms. Ellsworth, Dad? You’re always going out to eat and watch movies

I remembered now. The Ms. Ellsworth Alvin was referring to was the preschool teacherd had
hired, Brenda Ellsworth.
After Alvin grew up, I stopped hiring her, but I never imagined that Curran had been fooling
around with her.
I thought, “No wonder he kept using work as an excuse to stay late or not come home at all. Turns out, he had been spending all his time with his mistress while pretending to be busy.”
What shocked me more was that Alvin wasn’t warning me about his dad’s infidelity but was helping him cover it up.

I felt like I had been made a fool.
Since he treated me this way, I didn’t want Alvin, the ingrate, either.

“Fine, since you’re cheating, it will be much simpler. Sign the d*mn papers and get out!
If you don’t, I’ll take you to court.
You wouldn’t want everyone at your company to find out about your affair, would you?”
Curran’s lips trembled, but he reluctantly signed the divorce papers.
“Shirley, don’t regret this!” he warned.
