Chapter 7
“I’m not going to let you die here. If you do, I won’t be able to sell the house, and a death in the home will drop its value.”
I acted coldly, but my indifference was genuine.
I loved her, and when she was deserving of that love, I would elevate her to my world.
However, at this moment, she was
unworthy of love; when she made such a grave mistake, she became worthless in my
eyes.
Sophie cried out, “You’re so heartless!”
“Use your brain for once!” I snapped back.
“You’re a married woman, pregnant with someone else’s child. Do you really think that’s something I should forgive?”
“Have you watched too many online dramas? Do you really think this world has no sense of justice?”

I turned to leave without going upstairs.
“Forget it; let’s just put the house on the market. This is bad luck.”
As for whether Sophie truly wanted to end her life, I couldn’t care less.
Suddenly, Sophie shouted, “Even so, don’t you have any faults?”
“Are you out of your mind?”
I couldn’t help but curse at her.
Without pausing, I walked out.
I faintly heard Sophie’s mother say, “Sophie, just cut your wrists; then he’ll feel sorry for you.”
What the hell?
Is this family full of idiots?
What kind of pathetic person would still feel sympathy for her in this situation?
Not me.
The next day, as I arrived at the office, I

saw hundreds of people gathered outside the building.
Most were office workers who couldn’t get in because Sophie’s parents had brought a crowd to sit in protest at the entrance.
Behind them was a banner that read, [Kyle from Kyle’s Real Estate is a heartless. scoundrel who abandoned my daughter Sophie and nearly caused two deaths!]
Many in the crowd were filming, and some appeared to be live–streaming.
The building’s security and even the police didn’t dare approach because among the protesters were many elderly people who wailed whenever someone got too close, shouting that the police were attacking them.
Ethan held a microphone while beside him lay Sophie on a stretcher, looking unconscious.
“Everyone, we don’t want to disturb you,” he began.

“But Kyle is so cruel! Sophie is pregnant with his child, and he wants a divorce!”
“Sophie is threatening suicide; she almost lost her baby!”
“We have nowhere else to turn for justice; that’s why we’re doing this!”
“After all, we can’t afford to offend Kyle–his affair is with the president of Emma’s Group! We really can’t afford to cross him!”
As Ethan spoke, tears streamed down his face.
I stood hidden in the crowd, thinking how these clueless fools dared to cause such a
scene.
The internet today is truly polluted by
people like them who exploit situations for their own gain.
I still had a bit of a headache because
my
story with Emma, the president of Emma’s Group, was rather complicated.
However, it was mostly one–sided on her

part.
At a party once, she got drunk, and when someone asked why she was still single, she publicly declared that she had someone she liked but wouldn’t say who it
was.
In her drunken state, she mentioned that this
person was a former senior at her school, a campus celebrity.
Curious onlookers quickly connected the dots, and I became the only plausible candidate.
This incident blew up on social media.
Sophie had even confronted me about it back then. The truth was, Emma and I had never met privately; our public encounters were limited to casual greetings.
I never expected this would be used against
- me.
My assistant showed me a live stream where someone claimed that Emma and I

were already having an affair.
I couldn’t help but laugh at the absurdity of it all, thinking that such rumors would fade away as people moved on to the next scandal.
But just then, a flashy silver McLaren pulled up in front of the building.
As the door opened, long legs emerged from the car, and there stood Emma–tall and striking.
To my surprise, she locked eyes with me and walked straight over.
Everyone’s attention shifted to her as she confidently greeted the crowd.
With cameras pointed at her, Emma smiled and said, “I’m the Emma Ethan mentioned. Honestly, I’d love to be Kyle’s affair partner, but I don’t have the courage to confess my feelings. However, I heard he’s getting a divorce, so I thought I’d make my move.”
“Wait, Emma, are you serious?”

I couldn’t believe my ears.
She winked at me and added, “I think I deserve you more than your clueless ex- wife.”
At that moment, Ethan rushed over, pointing at us and shouting accusations, “You two are disgusting! You’re ruining lives!”
“What about you?” Emma shot back.
“Ethan, while Sophie was still married to Kyle, you had her artificially inseminated with your child!”
“I have evidence of where you went for the procedure and which doctor performed it,” Emma stammered.
“I’ve seen people deflect blame before, but you guys are something else–didn’t you think to destroy the evidence first?”
Emma retorted fiercely.
This was a disaster.

My reputation was on the line; I didn’t want this scandal to go public.
But now it seemed like I’d be the subject of gossip for quite some time.
Seeing my distress, Emma smiled reassuringly and said, “Don’t worry; I’m not
put off by you.”
“I am,” I replied with frustration.
Then addressing the streamers around us, I décided to release my own evidence since they were too shameless to hide theirs.
I instructed my assistant to display yesterday’s surveillance footage on the building’s big screen.
This included Sophie’s father making derogatory comments about how easy it was to manipulate online viewers.
The chat exploded with reactions.
Initially filled with insults directed at me as a “scumbag,” it quickly shifted to attacking them instead.
