Chapter 4
Everyone in the room froze, disbelief etched on their faces as they stared at Ethan.
Just a while ago, he had been a mere employee at the company–he wasn’t even qualified to enter this conference room.
Now he was attempting to fire me, which left everyone stunned.
Mark frowned and asked, “Ethan, do you even know what you’re saying?”
“Mark!”
Ethan retorted confidently.
“I’m now the general manager of this
company. I have every right to fire a design director.”
All eyes shifted to Sophie.
The appointment of a general manager without board approval was unusual.

This wasn’t a makeshift operation or a family business but rather a coalition of interests.
The role of general manager is crucial as it involves making significant decisions for the company.
Sophie took her seat at the head of the table and glared at me. “Kyle, you want a divorce? If that’s the case, you’re no longer fit to work in my company unless you reconsider.”
Divorce?
The board members exchanged glances, their expressions varied.
Everyone knew how much I had indulged Sophie.
Calling me a “simp” wouldn’t be far off.
How could I possibly initiate a divorce?
“The marriage must end,” I replied calmly as I set down my thermos and leaned back in my chair.

“As for you, Sophie, I propose we vote to
remove you from your position as chairperson.”
With that, I raised my hand.
Mark hesitated for a moment before
raising his hand as well.
Soon after, other board members followed suit.
Sophie was taken aback and shouted, “I’m the chairperson! I have veto power!”
Ethan threw a tantrum, shouting, “Are you all insane? You’re going to listen to Kyle, this freeloader?”
The board members looked at him with expressions of disbelief.
Ethan yelled at the security guards, “What are you waiting for? Get Kyle out of here!”
However, the guards remained motionless. and merely stared at him with
bemusement.
