Chapter 20
“Mr. Gilmore, when I said we should break up, it was already the end. Please move aside, I have things to do.” Ivana turned aside, avoiding the items on the ground that were nothing more than garbage to her.
This scene stabbed at Ernest’s heart, “This cup… It was your favorite. This ring… you searched for it the entire night, knocking on doors and apologizing to every household. These photos… we took them together. These …
Ernest gripped Ivana’s hand tightly, like a child trying to show off his treasures, presenting each one for her to see.
Ivana shook off his hand. Her gaze was like an icy lake in winter, calm and indifferent, with no hint of emotion. This was a look Ernest had never seen before. In the past, whenever Ivana looked at him, her eyes would always be bright and filled with

warmth.
She said coldly, “Mr. Gilmore, if you’re still interested in these things, you can keep them for yourself. There’s no need to show them to me. To me, these are nothing but garbage.”
The word ‘garbage‘ seemed to hit Ernest hard. He gripped Ivana’s shoulder and with a crash, he knocked over the pile of things on the floor, trapping her against the wall.
“Garbage? Then what about me? Am I also garbage?” he asked.
Ivana looked at Ernest, whose eyes were redder than a rabbit’s. Her expression finally shifted slightly. She sighed, “Ernest, the old me loved you. She loved you so much that she couldn’t leave, couldn’t stop. But we’ve broken up. The current me no longer loves you.”

“No, no! What can I do to get you to forgive me?” Ernest screamed toward her retreating figure. This was his first time ever being this out of control since adulthood. Even when Sydney left him. years ago, it had never hurt like this.
Having been with him for five years, Ivana knew Ernest well, he was stubborn, violent and relentless until he got what he wanted, just like his mother.
She turned around calmly, “There’s nothing to forgive. It’s all in the past now.”
Ernest, still in that crouching position, collapsed back into the pile of ‘garbage.‘ His heart felt as if it was being tightly squeezed, unable to breathe.
The scattered items on the floor seemed to
mock him. They were all trash that Ivana has discarded.

Winston raised an eyebrow, “If I’m a bastard, then you have half of that bastard blood in your veins too. Hi there, little bastard.”
Ernest hissed, “I don’t have a brother like you.”
“I love the look on your face when you can’t stand me but still can’t do anything about it.” Winston threw him a sarcastic smile before slamming the door shut.

She hoped Ernest would leave the country soon, so she could finally live in peace. Once, she especially liked that stubborn side of him. Now, it just felt like a form of torture, it was suffocating.
“Ivana, do you have a moment?” Winston, dressed casually in home clothes, stood in the doorway, a gentle smile on his face. The smell of food drifted out from inside.
“Gurgle…” Ivana’s stomach betrayed her with a loud growl.
