Bella paused the film, which had returned to its normal scenes, and overheard bits of Victor’s voice. It sounded like he needed to meet with Dominic. The call ended quickly, and Dominic buried his head against her chest, clearly frustrated. “I need to step out for a bit. I’ll be back soon.”
Bella nodded, slipping off his lap obediently.
Though nothing major had happened, their clothes were still a little disheveled, Dominic’s irritated expression also made it clear he wasn’t happy about the interruption.
Before leaving, Dominic wasn’t quite ready to let her go. He pulled her close and kissed her again. “I don’t know how late I’ll be, so just sleep in my room. If I come back and don’t see you..”
Bella didn’t let him finish the threat. Standing on her toes, she quickly pecked his lips. “Got it. Now, go.”
He left, but by the time Bella fell asleep, he still hadn’t returned.
The next morning, Sylvia informed Bella that Dominic had left on a business trip. He came home late, hastily packed some things, and left without waking her since she was already asleep,
Dominic was always busy, so Bella wasn’t surprised. If anything, his absence was a relief.
Handling him was more exhausting than performing a complex surgery–especially with his unpredictable moods.
She thought she would finally get a few peaceful days, but Dominic had other ideas. He kept sending her message after message, and if she didn’t reply after he sent three in a row, he’d immediately call her.
That afternoon, Dominic asked her to find a document he had forgotten to take with him. He needed her to go to his room after work, search for it, and send him photos of every page.
