I gave a bitter smile, and walked out to find a
girl on the sofa watching TV, eating an apple.
She was just happily chilling like it was her
home. Maybe she saved me. I was just about to
thank her.
She stood up, frowning at me. “Who are you?
Why are you in Ray’s house?”
I just stared at her. What had she said?
Ray’s…house?
She crossed her arms. “Hey, I’m talking to

“Why are you in Ray’s place, and why are you sleeping in his room!” The girl looked furious.
I said, “I don’t know him. He saved me. You
must be his girlfriend. Thank him for me. I’ll
leave now.”
“You better leave now.”
I went over to my suitcase.

I walked out and bumped into someone. It was
hard, and my head throbbed.
I apologized, but when I looked up at Ray, my
pupils dilated. I took a couple of steps back.
Ray hadn’t changed much. Except he looked
less like a boy and more like a man.
He was carrying groceries, saw my suitcase,

Ray looked taken aback for a moment.
He came back to earth. “Izzy, are you eating?”
I shook my head. “No, I’m in a hurry.”
Ray clenched his fists as he held the grocery bag. “Can you… not die?”
I looked up, “You shouldn’t have saved me. I just… wanted a family.”
Ray’s eyes widened, and then I continued. “A
home with my parents, even though my dad was disabled and my mom was sick. That life that you guys wouldn’t even think of having is the
one that I was longing for.”

I turned to leave, and Ray grabbed my arm. “Izzy, I’m getting married.”
I stopped and sighed, “Really? Congrats.”
“Will you come to my wedding?”
Ray looked at me. His eyes were just like
before, so confusing.
“You need me there to make your wedding perfect, right?”
I asked.
Ray looked at me for a while. “Yes.”
I smiled. “Sure, I’ll be there. No regrets.”
