Chapter 6
The moment Lily’s gaze met mine, her face turned pale and her body froze in place, her expression frozen in shock and fear. Before she could speak, Logan was the first to shout,
“Ethan, who do you think you are to call my wife by her full name?”
The old classmates echoed with righteous indignation
“That’s right! Don‘ t think you can get away with anything just because Ms. Sharper is willing to help you. Without Logan, you’d be nothing in her eyes!”
“Exactly! You don‘ t even deserve to meet her, let alone act like this!”
“Just because you‘ re an old classmate of Logan doesn’t mean you can be lawless. Look at yourself!”

remained unfazed. But Lily’s face grew even darker. I couldn’t help but tease her, my voice cold as I addressed her:
“Lily, did you hear that? They say I don’t deserve to call you by your name. What do you think about that?”
I threw the question casually, but it had the effect I intended. Her legs wobbled and she nearly collapsed. She trembled, her lips moving to speak, but Logan interrupted, furious, “You punk, how dare you speak to my wife like that? I’ll beat you to death today!”
Logan took a few steps toward me, hand raised, ready to strike. But Lily was quicker, stepping in front of him and pushing him aside. He looked at her in disbelief.
“Wife, why are you stopping me?” he asked, incredulous. “Are you feeling sorry for this loser? Or is he the ‘soft rice man‘
you ve been seeing behind my back?”
At his words, the room fell silent. Everyone

stared, shocked and confused.
“Is Ethan really the ‘soft rice man‘ Ms. Sharper keeps around?” one of them whispered. “I guess that explains why she is helping him.”
“That’s right. She’s just protecting him because the police are here,” another added. “No way he’s anything compared to Logan.”
Logan moved closer, grabbing Lily‘ s hand. “Even if he is the soft rice man you keep, there’s no reason for you to stop me from hitting him! I’m your husband–to- be!”
His frustration was palpable. Lily, her face flushed with anger, jerked her hand free.
“Get lost!” she snapped.
Logan was stunned, unable to process her coldness. The crowd murmured in
confusion.
“What’s happening here?” they wondered aloud.

Lily stepped closer to me, transformed into a soft, apologetic figure. She grabbed the corner of my coat, her voice gentle as she spoke with sincerity.
“Hubby, I’m sorry. I was wrong.”
She publicly apologized and called me “husband”
a gesture that left the
onlookers stunned. The room fell into a
hush.
Logan stood frozen, completely shocked.
“What’s going on?” he stammered. “Why are you calling Ethan your husband?”
The questions began flooding in and Logan’s face drained of color. His mind raced to make sense of the situation, but it was clear he was struggling to accept the truth.
“Lily,” he finally shouted, his voice
cracking, “Why are you calling him your husband? Today is our wedding day! How could you do this to me?”

His anger built, his veins bulging.
“Didn’t you say you only had me in your. heart? Didn’t you say the marriage license. didn’t matter? Why are you lying to me?”
Lily glared at him, her eyes cold with fury. “Shut up!” she yelled. “Do you realize you‘ re ruining my life?”
Logan stood there, his eyes wide with disbelief. He had never seen this side of Lily the side that was so fierce, so unapologetic.
Lily turned back to me, her voice softening.
“Hubby, I know I’ve made mistakes. Please forgive me.”
Her usual affectionate tone was back, but I wasn’t swayed. I looked at her with disappointment, my voice steady but filled.
with hurt:
“Lily, before we got married, you promised me you would love only me, yet here you are, marrying someone else. What happened to that promise?”

I gestured toward Logan. “You say you love me, but you‘ re out there with him. No wonder I ran into you that day and you just left without a word. No wonder you covered for that woman at the café. You didn’t want me to pursue her for slander. It’s all starting to make sense now.”
I paused. “You‘ ve been using me all along, haven‘ t you? The car accident… that was your way of getting close to me, wasn’t it? You knew about my family‘ s
situation and used me as a stepping stone, while taking my money to support other
men.
I shook my head in disbelief. “Lily, you really hid your true intentions well.”
Her eyes widened with fear as she grabbed me again. “Husband, I love you with all my heart. Please, I’ll make this right, I promise. It won’t happen again.”
Logan was still in shock, his voice trembling with confusion. “Lily, what’s going on? You‘ re the president of Besla

Business Group. Why are you stooping so low to please him?”
Her anger flared and she snapped,
“Because everything I have is from him!”
As soon as she finished speaking, a fleet of luxurious black cars pulled up and a group of well–dressed bodyguards emerged, each one holding themselves with military precision. They moved in front of me and bowed respectfully.
“Sir,” they all said in unison, their voices. firm and clear, sending a chill down the spine of everyone in the room.
