Chapter 6
After Edward left, I began to organize the objects he didn’t take with him.
I spent hours removing his traces from the room.
Lying on my bed, I looked up and realized that the wedding photo was still hanging on the wall.

Looking at our happy smiles on the wedding photo, I slowly thought about the past.

All the guides in Ailfa Mount Forest Park needed to take a safety education class.
It was also during the class that I met Edward, who was our safety teacher.
When I first met him, I thought he was very handsome, with a straight posture, attractive features, and a broad back, which made people feel
safe.
He was patient in class, constantly repeating, “You only live once, and you must take it seriously.”
I grew attracted to him, but only that.
Later on, the park broadcasted that a tourist had gone into the interior forest of the Ailfa Mount illegally, and Edward took his team to rescue
the tourist.
That tourist had encountered miasma inside the primeval forest of Ailfa Mount. Edward disregarded his own safety
the tourist, but he himself collapsed.

Luckily, the team arrived in time and pulled him out of the miasma circle.
After being taken to the hospital, Edward survived, but he remained in a coma.
It was this incident that made me respect him even more. I visited him every day, holding his hand and calling for him to wake up.
God had mercy on Edward, and he finally woke
- up.
I asked him, “Is it worth risking your life for people you aren’t related to?”
He said, “It’s what rescuers do.”
I fell uncontrollably in love with this great man.
After Edward was discharged from the hospital, we fell in love.
After a year of love, we got married. Our married life was happy until Jessica came back from abroad.
It was my birthday, and Edward said he would come home to spend it with me, but he went to the airport to pick up Jessica.
After that, he didn’t come back for a night.
Edward lied about being on a mission, and I realized later that he had lied.
He and Jessica had grown up together. In fact, Edward had always liked Jessica, only Jessica found a foreign boyfriend and followed him
abroad afterward.
Three years later, Jessica came back, but Edward was already married to me by then.
Jessica was not willing. She was hurt and realized how good Edward was to her, so she tried to get closer to Edward.
She would call Edward in the middle of the night and say that the light in her bedroom was out.
She would call Edward when it was thundering and say she was scared and asked Edward to keep her company.
And she would lie in Edward’s arms in the summer in a miniskirt and watch horror movies. If I hadn’t come back early from a business trip, I
wouldn’t have seen that scene. Her miniskirt couldn’t even cover her ass.
People were complicated. Edward was very serious and professional in his work, but he was hesitant and unfaithful in his relationship.
In my previous life, I had argued with him countless times because of Jessica. He threatened divorce every time, and I backed down and compromised every time.
I was still in love with Edward then.

My thoughts pulled back, and I laughed at myself, “Men are everywhere. I was so stupid in my previous life.”
A month passed, and we were successfully divorced.
Walking out of the Courthouse, I saw Jessica.
“Edward, congratulations on being single again. You finally don’t have to live with this miscreant woman.” Jessica pounced on Edward.
He wrapped his arms around her. “I’m free. Now, I can love whoever I want.”
“Elizabeth, you owe me an apology,” said Jessica coldly.
“What?” I asked.
“You brought me into Ailfa Mount’s forbidden area and left me behind with the intent to get me killed. I didn’t settle this score with you before because I was afraid of implicating Edward. Now, you’re divorced. It’s time to settle it,” said Jessica angrily.
I laughed and said deliberately, “I won’t apologize. Are you going to cyberbully me?”
“Do you think I wouldn’t dare?” Jessica asked.
I said calmly, “Try it. Let’s see who ends up winning.”
