Chapter 91
Chapter 91
Lorraine stood at a distance, gazing at the
the massive gate leading into their mansion. Her heart pounded uncontrollably, as if a drum was being beaten over and over within her chest. The feeling reverberated throughout her entire body, making her knees weak like overcooked noodles, Her throat was parched, and a nauseous sensation washed over her, as though she might vomit at any moment,
“Lorraine, should I bring the huggage inside now?” her driver, Hector, asked, pulling her back to the present.
She mustered her courage, knowing she couldn’t back out now. She had already traveled for hours, endured days of emotional tunnoil, and pushed herself through it all. Would she really turn coward now, after coming this far?
Taking a deep breath, she closed her eyes for a moment, silently reminding herself why she was here, standing in front of the place she had once called home…
She was here for her father. Whether or not the claims about him suffering due to her mother and sister’s actions were true, she couldn’t abandon her duty as his daughter.
Opening her eyes, she exhaled calmly
Hector, who had been watching her closely, gave her a sympathetic smile, “Lorraine, you don’t have to do this if you don’t want to. After all, the betrayal your family put you through was cruel and unforgivable.
Hearing Hector’s comforting words softened her heart. Having been her personal driver for years, he knew everything she had endured, and their bond ran deep. She smiled warmly at him, feeling her racing heart begin to settle
“It’s okay, Hector, I need to face this, even if I don’t feel ready. I can’t delay it any longer. I’m here for my dad–to confront the chaos they’ve created.”
Hector let out a heavy sigh before nodding. “Alright, let’s go inside”
Lorraine nodded back and walked alongade him. As they passed through the gates without resistance, she scanned her surroundings. Unlike before, no guards stopped her. The familiar faces of the watchmen she had grown up secing were long gone. Oddly, she didn’t feel sadness or regret. After all, even those guards had played a role in betraying her.
She let out another deep sigh, steadying herself as they approached the mansion’s grand entrance..
Who are “A maid’s voice trailed off as her eyes met Lorraine’s
The maid froze in shock, her hands trembling so violently that the fragile vase she had been cleaning slipped from her grasp and shattered on the
floor
“I don’t believe it..” the maid whispered, her jaw dropping as she continued to stare at Lorraine. “L–L–Lorraine Lorraine?!”
Lorraine straightened her postur
posture, her expression remaining cold and unreadable. Cone was the warm smile that had once graced her lips–a smile that used to light up her entire face
To the maid. Lorraine’s appearance had changed dramatically. Her youthful charm had been replaced with a striking maturity, and her beauty was now on par with that of a supermodel.
For years, people had claimed Amber was more beautiful than Lorraine. But now, there was no comparison.
The maid, whom Lorraine recognized as Ophra, stood rooted to the spot, unable to move.
Growing impatient, Lorraine finally spoke, her voice steady and commanding “Where’s Dad?”
“Uh–uh Ophra stammered, momentarily losing her ability to speak. It had been years since she last saw Lorraine. She had known her since childhood and had mourned her departure deeply. To see Lorraine standing here now, especially with the family in such disarray, was beyond anything Ophra could have anticipated.
“Ophir, where’s Dad? He’s still here, right” Lorraine repeated, her tone firm.
Ophra snapped out of her daze, nodding repeatedly. “Y–Yes, yes, ma’arn! He’s in the garden, getting some fresh air.”
Lorraine wasted no time and hurried toscand the garden. As she walked, she couldn’t help but glance around the mansion’s interior. The place had changed significantly, with modern furnishings replacing the old ones. Yet, unlike before–when the house was filled with life and happy memories -it now felt cold and empty, like a hospital ward

Chapter 91
Ophra trailed behind her, eyes fixed on Lorraine’s back, as if afraid she might vanish again if she looked away even for a second.
When Lorraine reached the expansive garden, she spotted an elderly man sitting in a wheelchair, staring blankly into the distance. The air was cool and fragrant, thanks to the abundance of plants, flowers, and trees around them
A pang of sorrow pierced Lorraine’s heart as she looked at her father. He had once been a robust and authoritative figure, standing tall and proud. Now, his hair was streaked with gray, his body frail and slumped. She slowed her steps, taking in the sight of him,
Her gaze shifted to the side of the garden, where toys were scattered about. A little girl was playing there but stopped when she noticed Lorraine.
For a moment. Lorraine froze, startled by the child’s resemblance to Amber. But the surprise quickly faded. There was no doubt–the child must be Anjie.
She turned her focus back to her father, stopping beside his wheelchair.
The old man, who had seemed lost in thought, became aware of her presence when her shadow blocked the sunlight
Frowning, he closed his eyes and rubbed his forehead. “Amber, not now, please. I just want a moment of peace and silence, Is that too much to ado“
Lorraine’s lips tightened at his words. Forcing herself to respond, she cleared her throat. “It’s me, Dad.”
“What?” He still didn’t seem to grasp who she was, likely mistaking her voice for Amber’s. “I know it’s you. Now don’t bother me—”
