Chapter 90
Amanda stood festen at the doorway, her eyes wide with shock as the scene before her slowly registered. There, in the dimly lit room, were Amber and Liam—both naked and scrambling to cover themselves. Amber hastily grabbed a bathrobe from the chair beside her bed, her face flushed with a mix of embarrassment, fear, and panic. Liam sat at the edge of the bed, his head hanging low, avoiding Amanda’s piercing gaze
Without a word, Amber rushed over to her mother, gently grabbing her wrist and pulling her into the room, shutting the door behind them with a sat click. The silence between them was deafening, the weight of the sinuation hanging thick in the air, making it nearly impossible to breathe. Ananda’s heart pounded in her chest, her mind racing to comprehend what she had just witnessed
Amber finally released her mother’s hand, stepping bark, and clutching her bathrobe tighter around herself. She couldn’t bring herself to look directly at Amanda, her eyes flickering nervously toward the flour, the walls–anywhere but at her mother’s face. She felt trapped, cornered, and exposed, knowing that what Armanda had seen was something she couldn’t easily explain away.
ts were spiraling.
Amanda, on the other hand, was struggling to maintain her composure. Her thoughts were
For a moment, all Amanda could do was stare. She had no words, neccoherent thoughts. How could Amber, her own daughter, be involved in something so treklew, so taboot
“I–I don’t even know what to say Amanda finally whispered, her voice tight with disbelief She shook her head slightly, trying to clear her thoughts Her eyes met Amber’s, who immedisicly averted her gaze again, her hands shaking slightly as she clutched her robe tighter around herself.
“Mom, please.” Amber stammered, her voice barely above a whisper. “Please don’t tell Caroline. She’ll hate me if she finds out.” Her voice trailed off, the fear in her words evident. Caroline was Amanda’s close friend, but she was also Penelope’s mother. Amber knew that if Caroline learned about this, everything would fall apart. Liam’s engagement with Penelope, Amber’s relationship with Callisto, their future, their families–all of it was on the line.
Amanda frowned deeply, her emotions a whirlwind. Of course, Amber would be scared. Caroline was strict and traditional, someone who believed in upholding family values above all else. She would never forgive such a betrayal, especially not from her own son and Amber
“Amber Amanda began slowly, her tone sharp but restrained, “do you have any idea what you’ve done?” Her voice grew firmer as the weight of the situation sank in. “This isn’t just some childishjoke. You and Liam., you’re siblings! Do you know what this could do to our families if this ever got
Amber winced at her mother’s words, the guilt settling heavy in her chest. “I know, Mom,” she whispered, tears brimming in her eyes. “I know we’ve made a mistake.. b–but, but_We didn’t mean for this to happen, but it did. We’ve been trying to control it, but sometimes, we just.. we can’t”
Amanda stared at her daughter in disbelief. How could Amber do when she and Liam were risking everything. It was dangerous, reckless and unerly irresponsible.
“Amber, you’re siblings, even if Liam is adopted, Amanda repeated, her voice low but forceful. “Do you even understand what that means? This
sn’t just a linke secret you can hide forever. What if Caroline had walked in instead of me? What if someone else finds out?”
Amber’s tears started to fall, and she shook her head, unable to respond. She knew her mother was right. She knew what she and Liam had was forbidden, and despite everything, she couldn’t bring herself to let go, even being in love with Calliste
“I’m sorry, Mom,” Amber whispered, lier voice shaking. “I didn’t mean for this to happen, but it did. Please please don’t tell Caroline. She’ll ruin everything if she finds out.”
Amanda sighed heavily, rubbing her temples in frustration. She couldn’t deny that Amber was in a difficult position, but keeping this secret would only make things worse. Caroline wasn’t the type to forgive easily, and if she discovered the truth on her own, it would destroy not only Amber’s engagement but their entire relationship with her family.
“And what about Liam?” Amanda asked, her voice still stern. “What does he think about all of this?”
At the mention of his name, Liam, who had been sitting silently standing at the back door, finally lifted his head. His face was pale, his eyes filled with guilt and regret Tim sorry, mom,” he said quietly, his voice hoarse. “I didn’t want this to happen either, but I love Amber I don’t care about the consequences. I just want to be with her.”
Amanda felt her heart tighten. She could see that Liam was sincere, that his feelings for Amber were real, but that didn’t make the situation any easier. If anything, it made it more complicated. Liam was willing to face the consequences, but did he Indy understand what that meant? Could he really handle the fallout that would come if their families found out?
“Love isn’t enough in this situation,” Amanda said softly, her tone gentler now, “You’re both playing with fire, and if you get burned, it won’t just be the two of you who suffer, Our families will be dragged into this as well”
Amber sniffled, wiping her tears away. “I know, Mom,” she whispered. “I know we’ve made a mess of things but I’m scared. I’m scared of what will happen if Caroline finds out. Please, just don’t tell her figure something out. I’ll fix this.”

Chapter 90
Amanda stood silently for a moment, her mind racing. Part of her wanted to protect Amber, to keep this secret and shield her daughter from the inevitable fallout. But another part of her knew that keeping this hidden would only make things worse in the long run.
Finally, Amanda sighed deeply and nodded. “I won’t tell Caroline,” she said quietly, her voice tired. “But this can’t go on, Amber. You and Liam need to figure out what you’re going to do you can’t keep hiding this forever.”
Amber’i tholders sagged with relief, and more tears spilled down her checks. “Thank you, Mom. Thank you.”
But even as the spoke, Amanda knew this was far from over. This secret would haunt them, and the longer it stayed hidden, the worse it
