Chapter 78
“Unreatorble” Really?” Callisto’s veier sliced through the tension in the room, dripping with disdain. His dark eyes, once full of warmth and charm, now glared at Amanda and Amber with cold, detached fury. He shook his head slightly, as though disappointed by the sheer absurdity of the situation. “Just look at yourselves and see who’s actually being reasonable right now.
His exasperation was evident in the sharp breath he took, his chest rising and falling with a sigh that seemed to carry the weight of a thousand arguments he’d rather not have. I’m tired,” he continued, his tone outing bike a knife. Don’t even think about bothering my rest anymore. And stay
There was a brief moment of stinned silence, as though neither Amanda nor Amber could quite believe the cruelty of his words. Then Amanda, who had stood froren in place, regained her composure. The disbelief in her expression rapidly morphed into fiery indignation. Her jaw tightened. and her hands clenched into hats as she glared at t
at Calliste
“You’ll regret this, Calliste” she yelled, her voice trembling with unrestrained anger “You’re making a huge mistake” Every syllable crackled with the raw emotion of a mother whose heart was breaking for her daughter. The venom in her tone seemed to fuel her as she took a step forward, as though daring him to defy her further. When your memories come back, yourd better not even think about coming to beg for my daughter’s forgiveness
Amanda’s words hit the air like a thunderclap, her maternal instincts kicking in to protect Amber, who stood beside her looking unterly devastated. The Callisto she knew had died in that car accident, replacril by this cold stranger who seemed to revel in their suffering.
“Mem Amber’s voice broke the heated exchange, cracking under the weight of her own tears. “Please, don’t speak to Callisto like that. Let’s just try to understand him more. She shittled, wiping at her face, though the tears wouldn’t stop falling. Her usually soft, pleading eyes were red and sweden: “For now, he doesn’t know anything”
Amber’s defense of Callisto seemed weak, but it was the only thing she could cling to Callisto’s mocking laughter shattered that hope in an instant. “Ha!” he laughed binerly, the sound echoing in the spacious room 1 might not know everything, but screw you both for assuming I know nothing, Amber” His eyes flicked toward Amanda with a vicious gleam, his next words aimed directly at her. “And you, Amanda? You think I’m making a big make! The only mistake I made was getting tangled up with your obsessive daughter in the first place!
His words were like a knife twisting in Amber’s chest, and she visibly flinched as though she’d been struck. Callisto’s cruelty seemed to have no limits as he pressed on. “At least try teaching her a little decency. You’ve put on full display how badly you’ve raised her.” He sneered at Amanda then added coldly. Thank God Lorraine isn’t like that.
At the mention of Lorraine, Amanda’s anger hit its peak. Her face flushed red with fury, and her hands trembled with the force of her outrage. “How dare you talk to me like that Callisto?!” she spat, nearly shaking. It seems like losing your memory wasn’t the only thing that car accident did to you—you’ve lost your mind?” She was barely able to contain herself as she glared at him, eyes flashing with hatred. “Or maybe it’s Lorraine who’s been manipulating you during the time you’ve stayed with her?”
“Did you really just compare Lorraine to yourselves?” Callisto sneered again taking a step forward, his towering figure now looming over them both. “My wife is nothing like either of you. Don’t insult her by dragging her into your mess, understand?”
His voice was low, threatening. It was clear that the mere suggestion of comparing Lorraine to Amanda or Amber had touched a nerve. Lorraine, after all, was a sore subject–someone who represented everything pure and good in Callisto’s life, someone who had shown him kindness when he was most vulnerable. To him. Lorraine was untouchable, untainted by the petty dramas of people like Amber and her mother.
“And that’s enough–Im done listening to you.” he continued harshly, shaking his head in disgust. “You’re ruining my day even more–oh, right His expression darkened as he turned his gaze sharply to Amber, who stood shaking, tears streaming down her face uncontrollably now. “I didn’t come back for you, and even less for that child whose father I don’t even know,” His words were like daggers. “So don’t assume anything or the next time I won’t just push you?
His final words landed with a resounding, heartless finality that sent Amber crumbling inside. Before she could even muster another protest, Callisto had already turned his back on them both, storming up the grand staircase. His footsteps pounded loudly against the floor, each step reverberating through the house like a death knell for the future Amber had envisioned with him.
As soon as Callisto was out of sight, Amber collapsed into Amanda’s arms, sobbing uncontrollably. “Mommy, Caroline… she choked out between ragged breaths, her entre body shaking from the force of her crying, “What should I do? What are we going to do about Callisto? Lorraine has brainwashed him!” She pulled away just enough to look into her mother’s eyes, her face a mask of desperation. “She’s turned him against me! That woman has made everything worse for us!”
Amanda wrapped her arms tighter around her daughter, stroking her hair and whispering soothing words, though her own heart was heavy with fear and anger. She knew how deeply Amber loved Callisto–how much her daughter had sacrificed, hoping he’d come back to her. But now, that hope seemed more fragile than ever.
Beside them. Caroline stood with her arms crossed, a thoughtful frown creasing her face. She’d been quiet for much of the exchange, observing the venomous back–and–forth between Callisto and her family with a mixture of disgust and cold calculation.
Finally, after what felt like an eternity, Caroline spoke. “Pull yourself together, Amber,” she said firmly, her voice carrying the authoritative weight of someone who had already devised a plan. “And listen to me carefully,”

Chapter 78
Amber wiped her eyes with the back of her hand, sniffling as she looked up at Caroline. “What do you mean?”
“You can’t just let Callisto do whatever he wants,” Caroline replied, her tone resolute. “He’s not thinking straight. And clearly, Lorraine has gotten into his head. But we won’t let that stand, will we?”
Amanda glanced at Caroline, her brow furrowed. “What are you
suggesting?
Caroline’s eyes gleamed with something almost dangerous–something Amanda hadn’t seen in her before. “It’s time we fight back,” she said, her voice barely above a whisper, but full of steely determination. “We’re not going to let Lorraine steal him after everything we’ve put into this.”
Amber hesitated for a moment, her heart racing at the intensity of Caroline’s gaze. “But… how? What can we do?”
Caroline leaned closer, her voice dripping with cold calculation. “We hit them where it hurts. We won’t let Lorraine and Callisto bak together no matter what happens. And Callisto–he’s too blinded now, but once we remove her from the equation, he’ll come to his senses. We have to be smart, Amber. We’ll dismantle their little fantasy piece by piece until there’s nothing left for them to hold onto. Or you’ll just let Lorraine take everything away from you like she did before?”
