Peeking through the window, the head maid spotted Anjir sitting quietly a corner, staring blankly into space. “Why hasn’t she come out yet?”
“Excuse me, ma’am,” a voter internipted her thoughts
Turning around, she recognized Anne’s teacher, who smided politely at her. “Good afternoon, ma’am. Is Angie okay?” the head maid asked with a
Tassumed you must be Anjie’s nanny,” the teacher said cheerfully. “I need to speak with you. Can we dep inside for a moment!”
“Of course, ma’am” The head maid motioned for Yuna to follow as they entered the classroom
Inside, the cool air and familiar scent of school supplies filled the room. The head maid couldn’t help but smile as she called out softly, “Anjiet Port”
Angie blinked out of her daze and slowly turned toward the voice. “Nanny” she muttered, getting up and trudging toward her nanny with tiny steps. She wrapped her arms around the head maid’s waist in a tight hug.
“How was your day, Anjie!” the head maid asked, gently patting the little girl’s head.
“I don’t know.“Anjie replied, her voice distant.
Before the head maid could probe further, the teacher cleared her throat, “Miss Salvatore, please have a scat“.
Sitting across from the teacher, the head maid kept Anjie on her lap. “Is there something wrong, ma’am?”
The teacher smiled, but there was a sternness behind it. “Miss Salvatore, Anjle is very bright–probably the brightest in my class. She’s extremely intelligent and quiet, but I have concerns about her behavior. She’s made several of her classmates cry recently, and today, she said something hurtful to me during a conversation.”
The head maid blinked in surprise and looked down at Angle. “Baby, what did you say?”
Anjie gazed up innocently. “I told her her breath smells bad. It hurts my nose,
Yuna covered her mouth to stifle her laughter, while the head maid’s eyes widened in shock. “Oh my goodness.. Anjie?”
The teacher, clearly embarrassed, waved it off. “I do brush my teeth, Anjie:
“I’m so sorry, ma’am” the head maid apologized quickly, feeling monified. “I’ll teach Anjle proper manners.
The teacher sighed. “It’s not just today. She’s said other things, too. She called one classmate dirty, told another they looked like Shrek, and even called one a moron for not knowing two plus five. She also embarrassed a child for having a booger. And just today, she nearly stabbed a classmate with a pencil. Luckily, I stopped her
The head maid gasped, and Yuna’s eyes widened in shock. “Anjie!” the head maid scolded. “You could’ve hurt someone badly! Why would you do
“I don’t know,” Anjie replied calmly. “I forgot why.”
As soon as they arrived home and went to the kitchen, the head maid pinched her temples. “No more pancakes or mango shake for you today”
“N–Nanny!” Anjie’s eyes grew wide, her face contorting into a pleading expression.
But the head maid remained firm. “You can’t behave like this, Anjie. You’re smart–so why are you doing these things! Did anyone say something mean to you?”

But you always say to be honest. I was just telling the truth”

The head maid sighed heavily, running a hand over her face. “Anjie, honesty doesn’t mean hurting others. How would you feel if someone called
you name
Anjie paused for a moment before shrugging. “I don’t know.”
The head maid’s heart sank. “Anjie, feelings come naturally. Imagine if someone said something hurtful to you. You’d feel ashamed, angry, right?”
Anjie tilted her head curiously. “Nanny, how do I learn to feel?”
The head maid froze, taken aback by the question. “Feelings just happen. Anjic. You don’t need to learn them”
“Then why don’t I feel anything when people are mean to me?”
Before the head maid could respond, the door creaked open, and Amber entered the room Instantly, the atmosphere shifted. Everyone fell silent. including Anjie, who straightened up in her nanny’s arms
Amber’s cold eyes swept across the room. She was immaculately dressed, with not a single hair out of place, her aura commanding an immediate silence. The tension in the air became palpable as Amber’s presence dominated the room.
Anjie opened her mouth, wanting to speak, but Amber didn’t even glance her way. Without a word, she turned on her heel and walked out, leaving at tense silence in her wake
Angie’s eyes dimmed as the weight of the moment settled over her. Her small hands clenched the fabric of her nanny’s skirt, holding on tightly
The head maid exchanged a worried glance with Yuna, the tension thick in the air. They both understood the severity of Amber’s dismissal. It wasn’t the first time Amber had shut her daughter out like this, and they feared it wouldn’t be the last
Yuna leaned in, whispering to the head maid, “It’s getting worse, isn’t it? She didn’t even look at her
The head maid nodded subtly, her heart heavy. “She’s been like this ever since.” Her voice trailed off, not wanting to speak openly in front of Anjie, but Yuna understood. Ever since Amber had distanced herself emotionally from her daughter, it had left a noticeable impact.
Anjie tugged on the head maid’s sleeve, her voice small and unsure. “Nanny, why doesn’t Mommy talk to me?”
The head maid’s heart broke at the question: “Oh, sweetheart.” She gathered Anjic closer, pressing a gentle kiss to the top of her head. “Mommy” just very busy right now, okay? But she loves you, I promise.”
Angie remained quiet, not fully the embrace.

But Anjie just shook her head slowly, her eyes still staring goff into the distance. “I don’t want
The head maid glanced down at the little girl, her concern deepening. Something had changed in Anjie, and it wasn’t just her intelligence or precocious behavior. There was a coldness creeping into her, a kind of emotional numbness that worried the head maid more than anything.
She glanced at Yuna, who seemed equally troubled. Without a word, the two women shared the same thought–Anjie was slipping away, and they didn’t know how to bring her back.
