Chapter 54
It was Sunday, and Lorraine was taking a break from the usual chaos of the mansion. Sipping her hot coffee and relaxing on a garden bench, she watched her twin boys, Lucio and Lucian, playing with their friends, Chiarra and Cherubin. The four children had set up a massive puzzle caule, a masterpiece they had built together. Lorraine couldn’t help but smile, feeling proud as she watched them enjoy themselves.
She pulled out her iPhone to capture the moment. Lucio was grinning widely, his tiny white teeth on full display as he laughed at something Lucian said. The twins were always in sync with each other, just as they were now. Initially, Lorraine thought it would take some time for her boys to warm up to their new friends, but ever since she had introduced them to Chiarra and Cherubin in preschool, the twins had been inseparable, always begging to play together.
“Ahem!”
Lorraine stopped recording and looked up when Wayne cleared his throat, catching her attention. He had just arrived in the garden. Lowering her phone, she smiled at him.
“Even on a Sunday, you seem to be busy. Where did you come from?” she asked, her eyes curious as she glanced at the large bouquet of roses in his
hands
With a sweet smile, Wayne handed her the flowers. “Happy Mother’s Day, Lorraine.
She froze, eyes wide, her mouth slightly agape as she absentmindedly accepted the flowers. “W–Wow. It’s Mother’s Day today! And you got me Blowers!”
She stared at the vibrant red roses, trying to process the moment. This was the first time she had received flowers for Mother’s Day–a sign that she was officially recognized as a mother. A warmth bloomed in her chest that she couldn’t quite explain
“Thank you day it was.”
much, Wayne,” Lorraine said emotionally, looking up at him with genuine happiness. “I didn’t expect this, I didn’t even realize what
Wayne’s smile remained as he sat down on the bench across from her. “I’m glad you like them. Maybe someday, on a future Mother’s Day, we can take Lucio and Lucian–and maybe your mom too–out for a day trip. The beach, night swimming, or even Disneyland His eyes sparkled with excitement. “Once we’re both not too busy with work, Jet’s do that, alright?”
Lorraine blinked, her heart softening at the sight of his enthusiasm. She found herself smiling even more. “Of course! The boys will love that!” Hugging the flowers to her chest, she admired them once again. These are beautiful. I appreciate this so much, Wayne:
A flood of memories washed over her–her struggles during pregnancy, with no partner by her side. She recalled her labor, giving birth to Lucio and Lucian, and the nurse’s question about the father. When Lucio had his asthma attacks or when she accidentally fed Lucian something he was allergic to, the panic and guilt she had felt still lingered, fresh as ever. She had often blamed herself for not knowing better back then.
But despite all those challenges. Lorraine had done everything she could to be a good mother. And she would continue to be the best mother she could be for her boys, even when she grew old and gray

“Huh?” She snapped out of her thoughts and turned to Wayne, realizing he had just taken a picture of her on his phone.
With a mischievous g
grin, he lowered his phone, his eyes crinkling at the corners. “You’re beautiful.”
Her cheeks heated up as she quickly looked away. “N–No, I’m not.
“Pif! Yes, you are. I’m making this picture my wallpaper”
“Wayne!” Lorraine gasped, trying to grab his phone “Give it to me! I’m deleting that! Who knows
s what I look like in that photo?”
“You look great!” he laughed, holding his phone higher out of her reach.
“Hey!” She couldn’t believe he was teasing her like this. “I am not photogenic, okay? I look terrible in pictures!”
“Well, then this is the most beautiful “terrible picture I’ve ever seen.”
“S–Stop it. Wayne!” Lorraine wanted to hide from embarrassment.
She knew she wasn’t the most beautiful person in real life, let alone in photos! She always looked three times worse in pictures. If there were an award for the worst photogenic person, Lorraine was certain she’d win it hands down.
She stood up, trying to reach for his phone, but Wayne quickly stood too, raising it even higher. There was no way she could reach it with how tall

“Waynel” she whined, exasperated, “Please delete that! You know there are laws against taking pictures or videos without permission!”
He chuckled. “Then why were you filming Lucio a

“Well, that’s allsword because they’re my kids!”
“And what about you?” Wayne smirked teasingly: “Can’t I take a picture of my future—”
Lorraine blinked up at hini, confused. “F–Future what!
He just laughed and shook his head. “It’s nothing”
“What do you

“Uncle Daddy! Uncle Daddy, are you p

Lorraine’s eyes widened as she looked down at her son, feeling a sudden jolt of nerves. “U–Uncle Daddy?” She glanced up at Wayne in confusion.
Wayne, however, smiled warmly as he scooped Lucio up in his arms. “Yes, we’re just playing a teasing game, your mama and L
“Ehhh? What kind of game is that, Uncle Daddy?” Lucio giggled.
Lorraine stood there, frozen. “Uncle Daddy Lucio.” She swallowed hard, glancing between her son and Wayne, her gaze lingering on Wayne.
He didn’t seem fazed. “Sorry, I know it sounds silly, but Lucio and Lucian just started calling me that. And honestly,” he chuckled softly, “they’re too adorable for me to correct them. I couldn’t resist ”
“U–Un” Lorraine’s chest tightened. She had no idea what to say. Was it okay for them to call him that? But seeing Wayne’s gentle smile and how happy the boys seemed, she couldn’t bring herself to argue
Noticing her hesitation. Wayne nulled her hair and gave her a reassuring look. “Don’t overthink
