Chapter 53
Unlike the previous days, it wasn’t nightmares that haunted Callisto’s memory this morning. Perhaps it was because he had shared a bed with Lorraine the night before, and now, memories of their honeymoon resurfaced.
Although he still wasn’t sure if he should feel happy about the memories returning, he couldn’t help but smile as he recalled those moments with Lorraine. Because of this, he woke up in a good mood.
Gideon, who was preparing coffee in the kitchen, raised an eyebrow as he watched his boss smiling to himself like a fool while spreading jam on his bread. He couldn’t figure out if Callisto had finally lost his mind over the past few days. Normally, Callisto would wake up in a foul mood, quick- tempered and lashing out at him for no reason. Dually, he dealt with it by bringing up Lorraine and the kids, which helped calm Callisto down. But today, Gideon was utterly perplexed by his host’s unusually cheerful demeanor, especially since he had gone to bed with a headache last night and Gideon had expected him to wake up irritable.
“Can you pass me the bread?” Gideon asked with a frown, testing Calliyo.
“Sure.” Without hesitation, Callisto slid the bread across the table, stopping it beside his steaming cup of coffee.
Gideon’s eyebrows shot up, and his eyes widened slightly. He actually did it -no yelling, no sarcastic remarks like “Get it yourself,” or “I’m the boss: why are you ordering me around?”
Still baffled, Gideon chose not to ruin his boss’s good mood. He shrugged and sat back in his chair, relaxed. “Alexa, play country music.”
The music started playing, lightening both of their moods even further. Callisto sat down across from him at the table. Just as Cideon was about to dip his soft bread into his coffee, Callisto spoke up.
“So, let’s continue our discussion from last night, Callisto said casually.
Gideon froze, his mouth open mid–bite, with the bread inches from his lips. “Uh? Can’t we discuss it later? Can’t we just have a peaceful breakfast
“So, do you really think Dad will tell Amber where Lorraine and I are! Callisto pressed, completely ignoring Gideon’s plea
Gideon pursed his lips. “Well he did say it himself. Whether it was a threat or he actually plans to use Amber to bring you back, I think you should still make a safe decision as soon as possible to protect Lorraine and your kids” He took a sip of his coffee.
“So, you’re suggesting I should just go back and do what the old man says?” Callisto narrowed his eyes
Gideon shrugged. “After all, you’ve still got time to make things right with Lorraine and
“If you think it’s the safest option for now, then why not?” Gi the kids.”
“Tsk!” Callisto clicked his tongue, his brow furrowing as he glared at Gideon “You really think I have time! Once I go back, I’ll barely have any time for Lorraine and our kids, and we’ll go right back to square one, where I’m a stranger to them. Second, don’t forget I’m not the only one hovering around my family! That idion Wayne is there! The moment I take my eyes off them, he’s bound to snatch them away from me! His face darkened further. “Even if he’s been busy with other things these past few weeks, do you really think he hasn’t been making moves to get closer to Lorraine? He’s been running her business smoothly under the excuse of helping her focus on Lucio!”
“Oh..“Gideon’s lips formed a small “Well, it seems like Wayne is actually helping Lorraine with good intentions.”
was soft for
Callisto didn’t like Gideon’s response, and his mood soured. “That’s the problem! I know Lorraine–she’s too soft–hearted. If only she was s me, I’d be able to relax, but not Once Wayne wins her over, it’s game over for me, Gideon! I won’t be able to see my kids, and I won’t have Lorraine by my side anymore!”
Gideon grimaced and looked away. “Don’t worry you still have another child you need to focus on.”
“What?” Callisto yelled “T–That–That crazy woman’s daughter isn’t mine!”
Gideon mumbled. Tell that to the DNA best
Callisto’s lips quivered in anger, ready to argue, but no words came out.
Inside, he still couldn’t accept the idea of having a child with Amber. There was no way he’d accept that child, no matter what! It still felt like a nightmare to him, remembering how that child repeatedly called him “Daddy.” A chill ran down his spine. That child was a spitting image of Amber when she was younger. Anjie had all of Amber’s features, and Callisto couldn’t see a trace of himself in that child
Many times, he thought about taking the case to court to question whether the child was really his, but he didn’t want to make any rash decisions, especially when it involved a truth he didn’t want to face.
What if that child really was his? Wouldn’t that be a slap in the face? And not only that, it would make winning Lorraine hack even harder, and his

kids would probably hate him. If that happened, he’d regret it for the rest of his life, and it would b

Just thinking about Lorraine. Lucio, and Lucian being happy with Wayne filled him with a mixture of anger, regret, and heartache.
Until he had Lorraine back, Callisto wasn’t willing to take any big risks.
Weighing the current situation. Callisto knew he had to make sacrifices and work hard, even if it meant exhausting himself every day going to go back as his father commanded, to prevent Lorraine from crossing paths with Amber, he had to make sure he spent enou his family to prevent Wayne from making any further moves.
“This is tougher than I thought, he muttered to himself, his expression growing serious “Gideon, call my dad. Tell him I’m going! better not bring Amber here”
