Chapter 41
In the following days, Gideon couldn’t leave the bathroom, his stomach tormenting him daily. His body was drained from the struggle, and each time he emerged, he would collapse onto the sofa, utterly exhausted.
“I’ll never taste that crappy food of yours again,” he said, no longer joking. After battling the bathroom, he had learned to give up.
“Oh, come on!” Callisto snapped at him, annoyed.
Gideon glared at him with what little strength he had left and threw a pillow in his direction. “Taste your own cooking, motherfucker!”
“Where’s your respect for me gone?”
if you eat what you cook and not just serve it to others and force them to eat it!”
1 don’t know! Maybe it will come back if you eat
Callisto couldn’t persuade Gideon to judge his cooking anymore. He had planned to cook for his family this coming Saturday as a bonding activity, but that wasn’t going to happen anytime soon because his cooking skills hadrýt improved. He just couldn’t get the right flavor!
He couldn’t understand what he was doing wrong. He followed the recipe, watched numerous online videos showing how to make delicious chicken curry, and had memorized everything, but it still didn’t taste good.
He was sure he was making mustakes every time, or maybe he just didn’t have a talent for cooking
It seemed he had no other choice but to seek help from a master chef he knew who excelled in homemade dishes.
He knew Mona was angry with him, but he had no other option
He hurriedly took off his apron and left the house. He glanced at Lorraine’s neighboring house and saw Mona sitting in their front yard, watching the twins play with their toy cars.
The twins were still bumping into things, not yet fully grasping how to drive. Even though they were just toy cars, they were designed to look like real ones, just without using gasoline.
Callisto wanted to play with his children, but he had something more important to do at the moment.
Without hesitation, he approached Mona and stood in front of her.
Mona looked up at him with a smirk. “What Have you given up on your foolish attempt to cook?”
Callisto’s jaw dropped. “You know I’m learning how to cook?”
“Of course! The smell of your burnt food reaches our house. And last time, I saw your kitchen on fire. Too bad the whole house didn’t go up in flames,” she said sarcastically.
That-“Callisto grimaced. “How can you be such a bad grandma? If something bad happens to me, it wouldn’t be good for Lucio, have you thought of that?
Mona seemed to snap out of it, her smirk fading. “Tsk! What do you want! Are you here to play with the kids even though they don’t want to see you?”
Callisto shook his head and stated his purpose. I want to do something g nice to make up for my family, and I need your help. The chicken curry you taught me years ago apparently tastes awful”
“Oh?” Mona was surprised. “You just found out now? Oh right” She remembered something. “I recall Lorraine telling me several times how awful your chicken curry tasted. But she felt bad telling you because she was afraid you’d stop being sweet to her and stop cooking for her. Tsk, tsk, you don’t know how much you disappoint me. I taught you well, and with my help, we created delicious chicken curry before, but you forgot the right process. You even had the nerve to serve that to Lorraine!” She let out a deep sigh. “You don’t even know how much Lorraine suffered in your hands, you shameless bastard.”
Callisto couldn’t respond to her lengthy tirade, filled with reproach. However, he fixated on what she said about Lorraine’s complaints.
How could Lorraine think he’d stop being sweet just because of his cooking! If she had told him it tasted bad, he would’ve practiced to improve, not just give up on being thoughtful
Seriously, why did it feel like Lorraine didn’t know him fully? And why did he feel like he didn’t know her completely either!
He really thought their married life was perfect, all sunshine and rainbows. But it turned out, there were many unresolved issues between them, now surfacing.

“Mona. I now know my mistakes, so can you help me out here? I want to make it up to Lorraine because I lacked so much in the past and died many things wrong. She must have had many grievances against me, so please help me, at least to lighten her heart,” he pleaded.
“What makes you think 171 help you! Don’t you know I’m also mad at you? My anger towards you is immeasurable,” she replied grumpily
Damn it! “I know that too, that’s why I’m asking for your forgiveness for whatever I did that angered you. Even now, I can’t understand what was in my head when I traded Lorraine for Amber. In fact, I can’t accept it myself”
- Karma has caught up
“Even if you say that, you can’t change the past. The consequences of your actions back then must be suffered now. and you deserve it.”

“But karma doesn’t only mean punishment. It is also a lesson in life,” he argued. “I have now learned my lessons. Even if my terrible memories return, my heart will always belong to Lorraine and our kids”
you.
“Urgh!” Mona was disgusted with him. “You know what? Lorraine’s life and the kids‘ lives will be chaotic again if you two reconcile. Because no matter how much you regret and learn your lesson, you and Amber still have a child together, Anjie. It will be awkward if you insist on fixing your family with Lorraine. Besides, I don’t trust you anymore. To be honest, you’re not the type of man who keeps his promises. We can’t be sure if you’ll stick to your plan of staying with Lorraine even if your memories retum.”
“But I am sure that I will never leave Lorraine and our children without a husband and a father!”
“Oh, don’t worry.” Mona shrugged. “Even without you, Lorraine will have a husband, and the twins will have a father.”
Callisto’s thick eyebrows knitted together at her words, “You’re talking about Wayne! That’s another thing! Do you think he can fulfill the responsibilities that should be mine?! And do you think I allow it?!“
“In the first place, only Lorraine has the right to decide that,” Mona retorted. “But my grandson is undoubtedly responsible. I raised him well. And if you didn’t know, he has been tirelessly supporting Lorraine in her business and personal life with the twins from the beginning! You have no idea how close those two are and how well they know each other Wayne is much more qualified than you!“
Callisto clenched his jaw and fists tightly.
He restrained himself from lashing out at Mona and instead let out a harsh breath. “Maybe coming to you for help was a mistake. Forget Lever asked” He turned on his heel and man bed back to his house where he let out his fruntration
