The only sound in the kitchen was the clinking of forks and knives against porcelain plates. What was supposed to be a joyful dinner prepared by Wayne and Mona to celebrate Lucio’s return from the hospital had turned into a somber and disheartening affair

Mona sneered at his story. “Is that sot Then why on earth did you taste other dishes if you already had the best?” she said sarcastically. “I’m talking – about Amber. Didn’t she not know how to cook? A bit of oil splatter, and she acts like her skin is burned”

“Entirely, of course not. Wayne shrugged. “But biologically, yes”
Callisto struggled to find words to defend himself to him, he considered no other children but the twins. He couldn’t imagine accepting Amber’s child because he never truly loved Amber. He never liked her even once, first of all, he disliked her desperation in pursuing him.
Amber might have been beautiful and sexy, but for Pete’s sake, she wasn’t the only woman with those attributes. Beyond that, there was nothing appealing about her. She was dumb, a brat, and immature. Though she was Lorraine’s sister, their upbringing was vastly different. Callisto couldn’t see his life with Amber, so he could never accept her.
What was the other him thinking to get involved with Amber just to spite Lorraine? He wanted to dig into his past memories, but they felt like an empty shell.
“Uncle Wayne, I heard that our half–sister is as vicious as Mister Avellino’s lover. Is that true?” Lucian asked, seemingly curious

Lorraine almost laughed at his words. “Excuse me? If there’s another man here, it’s you, not Wayne. No, if you could, just leave and don’t rest patience! You shamelessly had dinner with us, and now you have more to say? Who do you think you are here?”
