Chapter 3
“Lorraine, it’s good that you finally agreed to meet with Callisto and me.”
Lorraine sat at the table, facing Amber’s innocent smile. She pulled up a chair, her expression devoid of emotion, as she locked eyes with her soon–to–be ex–husband, Callisto, seated next to Amber. Their intertwined arms seemed like a cruel twist of fate, but Lorraine remained composed, hiding the pain and bitterness that gnawed at her.
“Why did you bring a whore when I asked to speak with you alone?” Lorraine’s voice was cold, cutting through the strained atmosphere.
Before Callisto could respond, Amber interjected, attempting to clarify the situation. “I don’t want any misunderstandings. We’re facing a big problem, so I also came along to talk to you, Lorraine.”
Lorraine stayed quiet for a moment, her eyes locked on Callisto “Why did you bring my sister into this? She’s always hopping from one guy to the next. Do you really enjoy her company that much? Or is it something else?”
“Amber,” he gritted his teeth, addressing Lorraine with a menacing tone. His eyes narrowed. “Don’t disrespect me.”
“Who’s disrespecting who? If there’s disrespect here, it’s all on you. You both act like dogs, moving on like nothing happened after that one fling. Wait, was it just once? Or more? Lorraine smirked slyly. “No wonder Anjie came along. What a blessing.

“Lorraine-
“Lorraine, it was a mistake,” he said solemnly. “We were all drunk at your parent’s place. I stumbled into the wrong room with Amber. We woke up to the mess and decided to act like it never happened. But Amber got pregnant. 1 had a hunch that I could be the father from the start, but she never confirmed it. I chose to marry you out of love. But now, Lorraine,” his gaze turned icy towards her. “I don’t love you anymore.”
Under the table. Lorraine’s nails dug into her palm, concealing her true emotions behind a blank facade. Why? What did she do that made him fall out of love? No, what did Amber do that made him choose them?
Lorraine dismissed her own thoughts. Why does it matter anymore? Why did it even matter now?
“I can’t shake the guilt for neglecting my responsibility to Anjie. She’s innocent and needs her father. She needs me,” he
continued.
And your child with me needs you too…
Lorraine hesitated to speak. The words lingered on her tongue, but she held back.
Perhaps his admission of no longer loving her made things crystal clear. Why bring up her pregnancy now? Would it make him rethink his choice between Amber and Anjie? Could it undo the deception and pain they caused her?
“That’s why I’m asking for a divorce, Lorraine. His words carried a heavy weight.
Amber retrieved the paper from the envelope on the table, offering it to Lorraine with a pen. “Just sign it, Lorraine. It’s a mutual divorce agreement to settle our issues peacefully. It’s for all our peace of mind.”
Lorraine’s eyes burned with restrained emotions as she stared sharply at the paper. With a forced smile, she said, “I’ve got my own pen.”
She took out her own pen from her bag. She didn’t show them the trembling of her hand as she signed. Afterward, she lifted her gaze coldly
Amber’s eyes sparkled with delight as she quickly took the paper, unable to hide her joy as she looked at Lorraine’s
signature.

Callisto remained emotionless, silently staring at Lorraine, as if analyzing her true feelings. As if he couldn’t believe how quickly she signed the divorce paper he wanted her to sign.
Lorraine’s eyes grew colder. “Don’t ever expect me to beg you to choose me, to love me again. I gave you everything. I didn’t lack in my love for you. I changed so much for you because I loved you, Callisto. But you repaid me with such cruelty.” She placed the ring in front of him on the table, full of meaning. Throw the ring away yourself just like you threw away our relationship. You chose my sister and her child over me. Thank you for almost ten years together. Don’t ever regret your choice. Callisto. Because I will never love you again after this.”
She saw him swallow hard before nodding. “I promise I won’t regret my choice. Thank you for everything, Lorraine.”
“Lorraine, thank you too!” Amber tried to offer sympathy, but her joy still prevailed in the divorce.
The bitterness in Lorraine’s mouth deepened. “Take care of Callisto. He’s allergic to peanuts.”
Her smile faded slightly. “Okay, Lorraine…
As Lorraine rose to her feet, she turned away, on the verge of tears. Her knees trembled as she exited the coffee shop.
In her car, tears streamed down her face, the pain overwhelming. She gently placed a hand on her two–month–old belly.
“M–Mommy will do her best to raise you.” She sobbed loudly. “Ill protect you, s–so no one could hurt you they did to me.”

With each tear she shed, a sense of relief washed over her. The weight of her decision lifted as she confronted the truth and embraced the path ahead..
