Chapter 21
“Cady said
you
wanted to talk to me?” Lorraine asked, her tone flat and emotionless, as she sat across from Gide cafeteria of the hospital.

Lorraine’s displeasure was clear on her face as she faced Callisto’s right–hand man. She leaned back lazily in her chair, crossing one leg over the other and folding her arms.
Gideon mirrored her posture, his expression equally blank despite being the one who had requested this serious conversation.
“I believe Cady has already told you about Callisto’s condition. Cideon sighed heavily and looked away, a hint of frustration in his voice. “He’s suffering from amnesia. The only fresh memory he has is from when you were newlyweds, which is why he’s been searching for you. He’s tried to escape the hospital multiple times, where Amber and the others are keeping a close watch on him. They won’t let him go because they think he’s not in his right mind.”
Lorraine swallowed secretly, her face betraying no emotion. She listened carefully to Gideon’s explanation, his words confirming what Cady had tried to tell her the other day.
“If I hadn’t helped Callisto escape to find you, he might have gone completely mad. To him, the six years without seeing or talking to you feel like just one night. His world changed in an instant, and he can’t accept it. It was all because he lost his memory in that accident.” Gideon’s eyes searched Lorraine’s for any sign of understanding “If that hadn’t happened, we wouldn’t be here right now. Callisto needs you, Lorraine. If the truth comes from you, he’ll believe it. You know how deeply in love you two were, inseparable back then.”
Lorraine let out a deep breath, her hands cold but steady, as she picked up the nearby coffee cup and calmly took a sip Minutes passed without her saying a word, prompting Gideon to speak again, this time with less patience.
“Lorraine, are you really going to be stubborn now? I heard from Cady that your child needs Callisto’s blood too-”
“My child,” she emphasized coldly, her gaze sharp. “My child alone.”
“Even if you say that, he’s still their biological father. He’ll find out eventually. Let him have a chance to be your children’s father. You don’t need to forgive Callisto or take him back because he has amnesia. You just need to explain things to him and help him understand the past so he can accept that he’s now with Amber and they have a child caught in the middle. If it comes from you, he will believe it.”
“Explain to him the disgraceful things he did back then?” Lorraine scoffed, gently setting down the coffee cup. She took a deep breath, her lips curling into a bitter smile. “Fine. I’ll make sure his amnesiac brain absorbs all the foolishness he and Amber, along with my family, his in–laws, and even you, did”
Gideon frowned, grinding his teeth slightly. “Right. Make sure to tell him everything. Every single detail, Lorraine. Don’t leave out a single, one–sided story.”
Lorraine raised an eyebrow, not fully understanding Gideon’s implied meaning. She knew there was something he wasn‘ saying directly, but all the events were fresh in her memory, so she wouldn’t leave out any details.
“I’ll gladly do so, Gideon,” she replied coldly.
Gideon thought she understood his implication and scoffed at her audacity. He might think she considered herself superior and proud of ruining her relationship with Callisto. She was as shameless as the rumors said.
“Regarding the ongoing investigation, please drop all the charge your fiancé filed against Callisto, I’ve explained why he did it. If Callisto were in his right mind, he wouldn’t have done it, his now he’s in a fragile state.”
“Fiance?” Lorraine was puzzled for a moment before realizing he was talking about Wayne. He was probably mistaken, but she was too tired to explain.

Chapter 21
“I’ll talk to him.” Lorraine stood, picked up her coffee, and adjusted her chair. “Let’s meet again the day after tomorrow, at the same time and place. Bring him with you.”
She saw a flicker of relief on Gideon’s face, which he couldn’t hide.
He nodded, then seemed to remember something. “Wait, Lorraine. I forgot to mention that your father was the one who gave me your house address. He said he saw you at the hotel and followed you without your knowledge. He wanted to talk to you, but knowing you wouldn’t want that, he stayed back. After so many years, he just wants to know how you are. If you have time, he hopes you two can meet
Lorraine’s eyes dimmed upon hearing this. Her eyes grew colder, and her heart hardened.
“If you have nothing else to say, then goodbye.” She left without waiting for his response.
Calmly, she walked into the bathroom to wash her hands absentmindedly, as if there was some disgusting dirt lingering on them. She stared blankly at the flowing water from the faucet, her expression empty. Her eyes were tired and slightly swollen from hidden tears.
Ever since learning about Lucio’s illness, Callisto’s sudden appearance, discovering his condition, and her complicated situation, she just wanted to surrender to fate.
Now, she was too exhausted to show any more emotions and felt like going with the flow of life. She had just learned to live again, but now she felt like a dead person once more.
Now that everything had come to this, what else could she do?
Even if she didn’t want to, she knew Cady was right. Their priority should be Lucio. Despite the chaos, Lucio deserved their
attention the most.
Lorraine decided to swallow the pain this time Nothing else mattered but the life of her son. Her feelings, past traumas, and even Callisto’s condition had nothing to do with this.
Lorraine clutched her chest and closed her eyes tightly. “Everything… everything will be okay.”
