Chapter 17
“M–Mommy!” Lucio’s voice trembled as he looked at the man who stood before him. There was no mistaking it; he had seen that face countless times on a computer screen to memorize every feature. The height, hairstyle, thick eyebrows, green eyes, sharp nose, and thin lips resembled Lucian’s and his own.
Only one thought ran through his mind now: his mother’s safety. “Mommy!” he cried out again, fearing the ruthless man might take her away.
“Lucio,” his mother called, rushing towards him. Lucio stretched out his little arms and hugged her tightly, his gaze never leaving the man who still seemed shocked by the encounter.
“Mommy, who is he? Did he hurt you? Lucio’s tears welled up as he looked at his mother pitifully. “Let’s call the police on
him!”
Callisto was taken aback by the boy’s words. He shifted his gaze from Lucio to Lorraine, unable to believe that she had already grabbed her phone and started dialing.
“No!” Callisto stepped forward hastily, crossing the space between them and grabbing her phone.
“Don’t!” Lucio reacted, his voice filled with fear
Lorraine’s hands shook, and her breath hitched. Her wide eyes, filled with terror, stared up at Callisto as if he were a ghost from her past. She seemed frozen, her body stiffening as if every muscle had turned to stone.
He didn’t understand! What had he done to make her react this way?
“Lorraine, please!” he begged, pulling her closer and hugging her tightly once more. He buried his face in her neck, inhaling the scent he had missed so much. After days, weeks, and months of being confined in that hospital without his beloved wife, surrounded only by people he didn’t want to see, he felt like he was losing his mind…
“Let go of me!” Lorraine struggled to free herself, her voice strained with a mixture of fear and anger, but he didn’t give her a chance.
“Wife, please, enough of this joke! I’ve had enough! Please!” he continued to beg, his throat becoming hoarse and on the verge of tears.
This was the woman he had loved since high school, the woman he had married. What had gone wrong? What had happened for things to turn out like this?
He refused to believe that Lorraine could betray him, as their families claimed. He couldn’t accept that he would leave Lorraine and propose to Amber just because they had a child! And he certainly didn’t believe he had amnesial
The world must be playing a trick on him!
“Let go of my mommy! Let go of her!” Lucio shouted, using all his strength to punch Callisto’s waist repeatedly. The boy even climbed onto the bed to push him away more effectively.
Callisto winced as the boy bit his arm, which was wrapped around Lorraine’s waist. Despite the pain, he didn’t release his grip. His heart raced, and he felt a tightness in his chest.
“I–Impossible.” he whispered. How could Lorraine have a child overnight? This must be another prank they were trying to pull off
His mind was in turmoil, unable to think straight. He couldn’t face the reality before him.
“Urgh” Lucio’s anger grew as the man refused to let go, nearly crushing his mother. The boy bit harder, almost breaking the
an, causing Callisto’s arm to bleed.
Chapter 17
The veins on Callisto’s arm bulged and hardened. The pain slowly brought him back to his senses, making him realize that everything was real. There was no prank or joke, just the world twisting his fate.
“Ha ha. he laughed awkwardly, feeling dizzy. He lost his strength, his legs giving way, Lorraine instinctively caught him but quickly let go, as if she had touched something repulsive.
Callisto’s breathing grew heavier due to Lorraine’s actions and behavior towards him. His world seemed to be crumbling, his heart breaking.
“W–What went wrong?” He slowly loosened his grip on Lorraine looking at her with confusion and bright red eyes. Tears brimmed at the edges of his eyes. His voice cracked. ‘L–Lorraine, how, just how did this all happen? P–Please, tell me you still love live. Please tell me we’re still married-
A loud slap cut him off before he could finish his plea. His right cheek reddened instantly, and his head snapped to the side.
“Shameless!! How dare you, Callisto!!” Lorraine’s voice was filled with anger, pain, and anguish as she yelled at him. “I already know how narcissistic you are, but to have the audacity to blurt this out?! Are you fucking kidding me?! Are you on drugs!! Or did you just go crazy over the years?!”
Tears finally escaped Callisto’s eyes. He looked at her again, full of pleading. 1-1, I. He wanted to explain but couldn’t bring himself to say what had happened to him. He stuttered countless times, his vision blurred, and he choked on his words.
His memory was clear. He had just married Lorraine. They were happy. They enjoyed every moment of their honeymoon. They were living their dream–just the two of them!
Then he woke up, as if in the future, with everything gone wrong and everything a mess. He felt utterly lost, like he had lost something precious and couldn’t bring it back.
While he was lost in thought, Lorraine snatched her phone from his hand, bringing Callisto back to reality.
“Get out of here before I call the police on you! Lorraine yelled, pointing at the door, unbothered by his pitiful appearance
“Lorraine…” He reached out to hold her hands, but she slapped them away.
“I said the fuck out of here, Callisto!!”
“P–Please,” he felt weak. “I–1, I need you, please…
“What the fuck are you talking about?! Get out!”
“Mommy told you to get out!” Lucio echoed, his eyebrows furrowed and eyes glaring up at Callisto.
Callisto was startled, looking at Lorraine. “W–Who’s child is this
Lorraine was taken aback, about to answer when a series of footsteps echoed through the open hospital room.
“Lorraine!” A man’s deep voice filled the room.
“Mom!” Another child’s voice followed.
Callisto turned to see Mona, her eyes wide with shock, staring at him. “Y–You!! How dare you?!” she blurted out.
But Callisto’s attention was drawn to the little boy who looked like Lucio. He was stunned for a moment before realizing they were twins. That explained why he arrived faster than Callisto, he thought.
The next second, Callisto was frozen to see the man carrying the boy. He was as tall as Callisto, with good–looking features, the same face he remembered
This man was Mona’s grandson and his childhood friend, Wayne

Instinctively. Callisto felt nervous and shaken. He didn’t want to make assumptions amidst everyone’s shock, but a tiny voice broke the silence and shattered his world.
“Daddy! Lucio cried out, looking pitifully at Wayne. “Daddy, this guy is harassing Mommy! Please call the cops!”
Wayne’s eyes widened even more. He was already shocked to see Callisto after all these years, but Lucio’s words took him by surprise. However, he quickly recovered, understanding what Lucio meant.
Wayne moved swiftly, pushing past Callisto to embrace Lorraine, who was now trembling
“Are you hurt?” he asked with concern, hiding her face in his chep when she didn’t reply but silently sobbed. He then glared at Callisto, who was looking at them in horror. “Get the fuck out of here!”
“N–No, this can’t be. Callisto muttered weakly, holding his head and losing his balance.
To everyone’s surprise, Callisto collapsed to the floor and fainted.
