“Arden,” he rasped. “You‘ re here. Why did you leave without a word? Was it to hurt me? To punish me?”

Xander froze, disbelief etched into his features. “What did you just say?”
Kade stood tall and unyielding, his broad frame blocking Xander‘ s fiery angry gaze, but Xander refused to accept the truth.
“Arden, stop this,” he growled, his voice thick with desperation. “How can you throw away ten years of us like this? Were all the promises we made to each other meaningless? Was our bond for you… just fake?”
I was done with his pleading. Without a word, I pulled out the pack–bond decree

Xander froze, his shoulders slumping in disbelief. Pain flickered in his golden eyes.
“Why… why?” he whispered. I couldn’t feel his pain anymore.
But I know his wolf is hurting.
As he tried to step closer to me, Kade moved swiftly, planting himself firmly between us. His growl was low but filled with authority. “How dare you ask why, Xander? What have you done these past moons? Don‘ t you already know the answer?”
