Chapter 7
I stared at Kendra, a bitter sense of disbelief washing over me as though the woman in front of me had become a
stranger.
“It’s my wedding, Kendra. Of course, it will be exactly how I want it,” I said, the words coming out colder than I intended.
“Kendra, listen closely–Rosie is the one I’m marrying. Stop this madness. It’s
over.”
“You wouldn’t dare marry her!” Kendra shot back, her voice thick with desperation.
Her hands shot out, grabbing me in an attempt to hold me back, but before I could even think, Rosie was there, pulling me into her warm, protective embrace. The coat draped over me felt like the shield I needed.

slapped Kendra across the face, its sharp sound echoing in the cold air.
“Kendra, who the hell do you think you are? Laying your hands on my fiancé?”
Kendra stumbled back, blood dripping from the corner of her lip, yet the smile that tugged at her mouth was far from regretful–it was taunting.
“Auntie, you should check around,” she said, her voice dripping with venom.
“Everyone in Cavendale knows Wyatt‘ s been chasing me for years. Don’t fool. yourself into thinking it was ever about her.”
Her gaze turned to Rosie, filled with malicious amusement. “And as for this second–hand prize… you really think you want him?”
Rosie‘ s anger flared, and she delivered two more slaps with swift precision.
“Can’t keep your mouth shut? Let me teach you some manners on behalf of my

brother!”
Her voice cut through the air, sharp and unyielding.
“If you‘ re tired of playing CEO, I’ll find someone to replace you in a heartbeat! Now get out of here!”
I noticed Rosie’s fingers turning red, the anger in her eyes softening just for a moment. Unable to hold back, I reached for her hand.
“Does it hurt?” I asked, my voice quieter
now.
For a split second, I saw hope flicker in Kendra’s eyes, but the moment she saw me holding Rosie‘ s hand, checking for any signs of pain, the light in her eyes went
out.
She glanced at us one last time, her gaze unreadable, before turning away with a heavy silence hanging between us.

pleading for her to take him home, but Kendra, wrapped in her own world, acted as though he was invisible. She drove off alone, leaving him standing in the dust.
I turned back to Rosie, anxiously examining her fingers.
“I… I did pursue Kendra once, but we were never a couple. We never shared. anything like that,” I said, desperate to explain.
