Chapter 7 – The Trap
FREYA
I saw the look of disbelief on his face as I
stared at him and I frowned.
“What’s wrong? Are you regretting what you’ve said so quickly?” I asked him.
My question seemed to snap him out of his thoughts as he stared at me.
“What? No,” he stuttered.
He looked rattled and that’s when I saw the caller ID on his phone. I let out a bitter laugh.
“Go to her,” I said.
Roy shook his head, “No, you’re getting this

all wrong, Freya.”
“It’s obvious she needs you, Roy. I can’t keep sharing you, I love you but I can’t go down this road again,” I snapped.
“If you would just allow me to explain, Freya,” he stressed.
Tears clouded my eyes as I stood up, “What do you wanna say, Roy? Every time I’ve needed you ever since she got back, Raina is always involved in some kind of freak accident.”
“It’s not…” Roy trailed off as his eyes widened slightly, almost like he was realizing something important.
“What the hell is going on, Roy?” I asked
him.

He seemed genuine a few moments ago and now he was looking confused and
disoriented.
“I… something is going on. I don’t know
what it is and I’m struggling to believe it, Roy finally said.
“What’s wrong?” I asked him.

I was willing to be patient with him today. Because I’ve been so consumed with anger that I’ve barely given him any chance to talk
to me.
But that wasn’t solely my fault. He was always talking about Raina and she was always calling him. But now that she had called him he didn’t go running to her he stayed back.
“Just keep an open mind, Freya, promise

me,” he said.
I nodded and sat down, “Fine. I promise.”
He then told me of how Sarah had sent him
here to me to talk with me. He also told me of
how Sarah had been certain that Raina would
interrupt their conversation and she did by calling him.
I wanted to laugh but I kept quiet. It had taken Roy a while for him to figure it out.
“So what does this mean?” I asked him since he said I should keep an open mind.
“Let me know why she’s calling me,” he answered when his phone rang again.
He picked up the call and we sat in silence for a few minutes before he ended the call.

He stared at me, “It’s the nurse. She said
there’s an emergency with Raina.”
I chuckled, “There’s always an emergency.”
“Maybe I should go check it out,” he
stressed.
A frown creased my face, “What is your obsession with this girl?!”
He looked surprised by my outburst as he stared at me, “I’m sorry, Freya, I don’t mean to upset you. I’m just trying to figure out what’s going on.
وو
“She’s using you. Raina is fucking using you, can’t you see it?!” I snapped.
Roy seemed distraught for a while before he

“Alright, let’s go and see Raina. I’ll give her
a piece of my mind now,” he said to me.

me, Come on, let’s go check it out.”
Reluctantly I followed him toward Raina’s ward but just as we were close we heard the clear and unmistakable voice of Raina.
“Why isn’t he here?!” she was yelling at the
nurse.
Roy had a surprised look on his face. He wanted to rush forward but I restrained him and shook my head. We remained standing by the side as we peeked at her.

bitch and soon they’ll start planning their wedding again. I can’t allow that!” Raina said.
Roy stiffened beside me as he heard her voice. I wasn’t even surprised that Raina harbored such thoughts toward me.
I’ve always known that she never liked me, especially since she proposed marriage to Roy and he refused to marry her because of me.
“Call him again, you wench!” Raina snapped.
When she stood up from the bed and stepped her feet on the ground without wincing in pain, Roy lost it.
