Chapter 6
Trix’s POV
Did Leroy really think I was just a poor girl selling street food? All these years, he’s been wrapped up in his own small world here in Midland, blind to how far things have come in the Western entertainment
world.
Well, the real show‘ s about to start now. I’m curious to see what tricks Leroy‘ s still got up his sleeve.
About an hour later, the show’s director gave me a call. Turns out, after I stepped away from the street food role, a girl named Belle took it on. And just today, a group of strangers attacked her stand, demanding to know where the “original” street food vendor had gone.
I checked the security footage–and wouldn’t you know, those “strangers” were none other than the two Hurst family

bodyguards. Looks like Leroy’s starting to wonder if I’m really just some street food vendor.
That afternoon, Iris let me know the international entertainment forum, organized by Big Dream Entertainment, was all set, and I needed to attend. I dressed to impress, heading to the event with Iris and a few bodyguards by my side.
The moment I walked in, I spotted Leroy and Velma storming my way, looking mad as hornets.
“Well, well, Alexia! Been looking high and low for you, only to find you hiding here, playing at being some respectable lady!” Leroy‘ s voice echoed, and folks around us turned to stare. Security and my bodyguards closed in, ready to act.
Noticing all the eyes on us, Leroy lowered his voice and spoke through clenched teeth. “Come with me. Lauren’s had an episode and was rushed to the hospital. You can’t waste time hiding here!”

Velma stepped in, her face cold as she said,
“Alexia, stop fighting us. Lauren is your sister. None of us has a choice here. Your
father and I talked it over–agree to save her, and half the family’s assets will be yours one day.”
I looked at these two, my own flesh and blood, standing there with all their shamelessness on full display. They still thought they could pull me in with talk of family and empty promises of money. But the Hurst family’s business is hanging by a thread anyway–who do they think they’re fooling?
I sneered at Leroy and Velma.
I let out a bitter laugh and glared at them.
“Lauren and I, we‘ re both your daughters, right? But she’s just the child of your mistress. I’m your real daughter, Mrs. Hurst. And yet, here you are, ready to sacrifice me to save the daughter of a
mistress.
Hearing my words, Leroy and Velma froze.

Velma’s face went pale, and guilt flickered in her eyes as she dropped her gaze. Leroy looked around at the crowd gathering, then clenched his teeth and grabbed my arm.
“We don’t have time to drag up the past or explain the hard choices we had to make. Just come with me! Lauren’s waiting for her surgery!”
“Let go of me! I owe you nothing!” I wrenched my arm free and glared at him, my stance firm.
Velma reached out again, desperation all over her face. “Alexia, I know we‘ ve done wrong by you, but Lauren doesn’t have time. I’m begging you, please help her!”
“Begging me?” I echoed, my voice thick with disbelief. “Who‘ s ever begged for
me? Who’s ever cared about whether I
live or die?”
I stared at Velma, my own mother,

wondering how she could even say those words.
