Chapter 67
Callisto had fulfilled his promise to his father to return to the city and help manage the family company. As soon as the private jet touched down on the rooftop of their building, he wasted no time heading straight to the conference room, where a meeting was already in progress.
“I apologize for being five minutes late.” he announced to the room.
Internally, Callisto was struck by how much time had passed. His former colleagues, business partners, and peers, who once looked young and energetic, now appeared worn down and aged. Only now did it fully dawn on him just how many years had gone by, and how the pressures of business had clearly taken a toll on them.
Despite this, the people around the table merely nodded in acknowledgment without showing any sign of surprise, even though Callisto had been in a coma for several years. They remained unaware of his true condition. In his absence, a clone had attended major events, appearing sporadically enough to maintain the illusion that Callisto was still healthy and active.
As his eyes met his father’s across the room, it was only the second time they had seen each other since Callisto woke from the coma.
“Take your seat, you’re disrupting the meeting, his father said coldly, his expression unreadable.
“Yes,” Calliste replied just as emotionlessly. He made his way around the large conference table and sat down beside his father.
The meeting continued without further interruptions and eventually drew to a close.
Callisto couldn’t help but notice how much things had changed. It left him feeling as though he had been left behind, but thanks to his high intelligence, he could quickly adapt to this new reality.
press on his chest
Sitting in his office chair, Callisto’s mind drifted to Lorraine and their twins at home. His eyes narrowed, and a weight seemed to p as he leaned forward, resting his arms on the desk. He stared into space, losing track of time, his thoughts consumed by the absence of connection. rather than focusing on the work in front of him. Since waking up, nothing had felt right.
“Mr.
Callisto
His sharp gaze shifted toward Miss Laurel, his new secretary, who had interrupted him. She flinched slightly, placing a folder of documents on his desk with a respectful bow. He leaned back in his chair, studying her.
past. “Do you think it’s that easy
“Did you submit the report after the deadline?” he asked coldly, his tone slipping into the familiar sharpness of his p to live off someone else’s money!”
“I’m terribly sorry, Mr. Callistol Yesterday was so hectic that I wasn’t able to send it until you got home..” she stammered, clearly nervous.
“Is the workload too much for you?” he pressed, his voice hard
“No, sir. I truly apologize,” she replied quickly, her voice shaky.
Callisto pursed his lips but remained silent as he lazily opened the documents in front of him. His mind was elsewhere, however, and frustration gnawed at him. He let out a loud sigh, causing Miss Laurel to jump nervously.
“Is something wrong, sir?” she asked, unsure.
Callisto glanced at her briefly before speaking. “Say.. I know someone who’s had a problem recently because of a worthless person.”
She looked confused. “Excuse me, sirl”
“They almost had sex while he was drunk, but he remembers that night clearly,” he murmured, his face emotionless. “It shouldn’t mean anything. but he can’t stop thinking about the taste of that person. It’s like he’s thirsty for it Why do you think that is”“
Miss Laurel swallowed hard, hesitant to respond. “Is someone seducing you, sir?”
Callisto frowned, irritated by her direct question. He knew he had been talking about himself but using “he” Realizing her mistake, she quickly covered her mouth, then spoke again.
“I apologize, sir! Um, maybe it’s just lust? Sometimes, when people experience something that fits their preferences, they tend to desire it more.”
He slowly raised an eyebrow, staying quiet for a long moment as he toyed with his pen, staring up at the ceiling. “Desire, huh?” he muttered. nodding slightly.
“Yes, Mr. Callisto,” she said softly.
“Good. You may go be dismissed her.

“Thank you, sir,” she replied with relief, quickly leaving the room.
Callisto glanced at the clock on his desk and sighed. It had been so long since he huid lieen intimate with his wife. The pleasure he once found in tex had become a distant memory.
When he informed Lorraine that he had to return to the city, she hadn’t shown any sadness, disappointment, or regret. If anything, there had been a fleeting sense of relief on her face that she couldn’t hide. And now, Callisto felt more depressed than ever. It seemed like his twins didn’t care about him either.
Callisto couldn’t understand why Lucio and Lucian weren’t attached to him. They treated him like a stranger who visited their home, further deepening his feelings of isolation. When he said goodbye to them, they merely laughed and went off to play, carefree and unconcerned about how their behavior might hurt him. It was as if they were deliberately making him feel left out.
He rubbed his temples, feeling the weight of his own family’s indifference,
“Gideon-” Callisto stopped mid–sentence, realizing he had left his trusted aide at the mansion to watch over Lorraine and the twins. He contacted him instead, asking for a report on their activities. Once he had all the details, Callisto clocked out of work before it got dark and headed to Greenbelt Mall. He took his secretary along and shopped for women’s and children’s clothes, jewelry, sandals, and accessories.
Back at the mansion, Grita, the housekeeper, greeted him with questions. “Mr. Callisto! Why are you so late today? How many dishes should we prepare for dinner?”
“I just bought a few things,” he replied casually.
Her eyes widened as she noticed the number of bags he carried. “A few things!! It looks like you’re preparing for inflation or a famine! You never shop this much!”
Callisto frowned as he removed his coat. “What are you talking about? Even if there were a disaster, we wouldn’t be affected. And I certainly wouldn’t stock up on things that will go out of style.”
Well, if that’s the case…”
These are for my wife and kids,” he said casually as he made his way upstairs.
“Oh!” Grita’s eyes lit up. “Oh! I’m sure Miss Amber and Anjie will be so happy when they
Who said they were for me?!” Callisto snapped.
