Farewell to the false family Chapter 5

Farewell to the false family Chapter 5

She supported me fully

To her, my wellbeing mattered most. After all, I was her only daughter

Upstairs, I took out my phone to let Raelyn know I was safe

That was when I saw Lindsay’s latest post on Twitter

The photo showed a large hand resting on her belly and a small hand holding her other hand

The caption read: [Home is where the heart is. I’m lucky to have you two by my side.

I stared at the picture, not angry but disgusted

I liked the post and left a comment: [Trash belongs in the garbage, and sl*ts belong with sc*mbags.

After that, I turned off my phone, drank a glass of milk, and went to bed peacefully

I never expected that one comment would cause such a stir

04

When I woke up the next morning, my phone was flooded with hundreds of messages and missed calls

Friends were asking what had happened between Lindsay and me. Just as I was about to reply, my phone rang

It was Marvin

The moment I answered, his furious voice exploded through the line. Ariadne, what the hell are you trying to do?!”

I froze, confused for a moment, before realizing what he meant

It turned out my comment last night had stirred up a storm. Everyone now knew the man in Lindsay’s photo was Marvin

Our mutual friends had bombarded him with messages, asking what was going on

Oh? So you’re afraid of people talking now?I said, my voice icy

I thought, Weren’t you bold enough when cozying up to her in front of me? Now that you’ve been exposed, and you could tell it was wrong?”

Delete the comment, now!Marvin demanded, his tone sharp

In the background, I could hear a woman crying

Lindsay. Of course

The realization that they were together made me feel oddly triumphant

Lindsay was probably losing it over those private messages.

I couldn’t help but chuckle

What’s so funny? Do you even realize what you’ve done? Lindsay’s been attacked because of your comment! She’s not well, and she can’t handle stress. How could you be so cruel?”

His tone accused me as though I were some kind of monster

This was the man who had once sworn he loved me, who promised we’d build a life together

And now, ten years later, he called me cruel

I thought, What a joke.”

Cruel? You’re lucky I haven’t slapped her. And youdon’t you dare yell at me!”

For years, I’d worked myself to the bone for this man

I’d been loyal, supportive, and patient

And this was what I got: betrayal, humiliation, and now blame

I couldn’t help but wonder, Is he always like this? Have I been blind all these years, or has he just changed into this stranger?”
