Chapter 11
The final filming task was for the
for the three couples to climb a mountain together.
The weather was fine and sunny during the ascent, everything going smoothly. But after reaching the summit, the weather suddenly changed, turning into a thunderstorm.
The production team had been well–prepared, assigning a staff member to each person for care and companionship, so there wasn’t much panic.
Marcus walked ahead, frequently turning back to look at me, seemingly shouting something that was drowned out by the rain.
The rain grew heavier and heavier until we could barely see a meter ahead.
During this time, my assigned staff member twisted her ankle. We had to slow down, but fortunately, though it was a mountain path, the route wasn’t complicated. I supported her as we inched along, making it back to base safely.
I had just sat down when the director rushed in, asking if we’d seen Marcus on the way.
We were confused. “Wasn’t he at the front of the group? Shouldn’t he have arrived already?”
The director anxiously ran his fingers through his hair. “He did come back, but when he saw you hadn’t returned, he rushed back up the mountain despite everyone todas ta plan blant

“God, he was like a madman- several people couldn’t hold him back!”
I stood frozen.
The singer couple and regular couple came to comfort me, saying that with over a dozen staff members searching, he’d surely be fine.
I stared fixedly in the direction of the mountain, silent for a long while.
Two hours later, the door suddenly opened, and a completely drenched figure appeared.
Seeing me, he rushed over and embraced me tightly.
“Rachel, thank God you’re safe. You’re back, you’re really back. I’ve never been so scared in my life, never!”
Marcus, usually so composed in front of others, held me tight, his body trembling.
Not just from cold, but from fear.

Staff members reported that in that fierce storm, he had actually made it to the summit, worried I might have fallen off the mountain. He had even left the main path to search along the cliff edges.

When he regained consciousness, I was sleeping at his bedside.
I felt his large hand gently stroking my face and opened my eyes.
He smiled at me, his eyes glistening with moisture:
“That day wandering in the rain, I finally realized something – I love you more than I thought I did.”
“Thank God you’re safe. Thank God I have the chance to say this.””
“Rachel, when the show ands, let’s go home and live well together, okay?”
He held me tight.
I raised my hand and gently patted his back.
Two days later, during the final show interview.
In my third couple’s choice, I chose divorce.
Everyone displayed looks of utter disbelief.
When Marcus saw my choice, he froze like a stone statue, motionless for a long time.
